I was wondering. In the Chamber of Secrets, I recall (and correct me if I'm wrong) that we discover that the last people who have ever been known parseltongues was Lord Voldemort and Salazer Slytherin himself.
Does anyone know if Dumbledore could speak it? We know that he speaks hundreds of languages but I just wondered if anyone had anything on this?

Hmm. I think I saw a post about this somewhere else on here.
I don't think he was one.
Hopefully someone else can explain this a bit better haha.
I don't see it really as a language you can learn. So few people speak it that who would teach you? This is a weird ability passed down through the Slytherin blood line.
JKR has said that DD is a very learned man who can speak several languages. I don't think parseltongue is one of them. _________________

why would dd have parseltoungue? its true, you cant LEARN you, its an ability, isnt it?
slytherin was first to have it, and then lord voldemort since he is a reletive of slytherin. dd says the only reason harry can speak parseltongue is because "a little bit of voldemort's soul went into harry" (horcuzx) how on earth could dumbledore speak parseltoungue? _________________

They DID say Dumbledore was powerful enough, and knew magic he didn't dare use, right? Maybe this was one? _________________

Dumbledore could probaly understand what was going on but i dont think speak it fluently _________________ "The Ministry Has Fallen. Scrimgeour is Dead. They Are Coming." - Kingsley Shacklebolt (Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows)
"You understand him, I'm sure, Harry?" said Dumbledore quietly. "Yes, of course," said Harry, slightly nonplussed. "Why can't Ogden — ?"
But as his eyes found the dead snake on the door again, he suddenly understood.
"He's speaking Parseltongue?"
"Very good," said Dumbledore, nodding and smiling.
From the above, it should be pretty obvious that Dumbledore understands Parseltongue (he also understands the rest of Morfin and Marvolo's conversations).
