Who else loves this series of books?

I think we should also discuss the movies here...its easier and neater than having two threads. but the first one is one of the most, if not the most faithful adaptation of a book I have ever seen. I love it.

also...anyone noticed how this orphan anne is a plucky redhead much like the heroine of Annie?

I pretty much love this series of books to death! The writing is amazing, Montgomery uses such amazing literay adjectives... you can really imagine every place she describes.

The first movie was great, very close to the first book. The second movie condensed so many books into one film, that caused way too many changes. As a stand-alone film it was good, but if you're looking for an exact match to the book, it didn't happen.

Anne is way better than Annie. And Gilbert os so wonderful and I absolutely loved Matthew.

oh yes matthew! It seems that in real life I'm quiet like Matthew but I have all of Anne's babbling going on in my head lol.

I don't think I have one casting complaint for the movie either, they were all perfect. but yeah...I don't know why they compressed so much into the second one. some of the high points of the books were hit though many were sorely missed. but its worth it to see how their relationship resolves itself.

and I love Annie, but Anne is heaps better.

It was required reading when I was in...9th or 10th grade, can't remember. And then we watched the movies...not sure if we finished those, though. If I remember right, I enjoyed them. I should check them out at the library and try to rent the movies for old time's sake. Razz

The books follow a simple girl with a huge heart and an extremely vivid imagination that is always getting her into trouble. The first book, Anne of Green Gables tells the story about how Anne, a precocious young girl is plucked from an orphanage and sent to live with the Cuthbert's, an older set of siblings who need help on their farm.. and who also requested a boy. Hilarity and tears ensue.

she also talks nonstop...especially when it'd be in her best interest not to say things lol. she has a fiery temper and her "lifelong sorrow" is her red hair...so don't criticize it!
