I saw a trailer for it, I really want to go and see it. I like the fact that the film is shot by what looks like a small video recorder.

Reminds me of the Blair Witch Project...

I just watched it on my computer after I downloaded it the other day and I thought it was pretty good. I kinda regret not seeing it in the cinemas as that woulda been better quality but still great. The only flaw of the movie is that it's a LITTLE too short. The actual movie is only on for 1 hour and 15 minutes you know lol. But the action and monster stuff starts at about 25 minutes into the movie so its an entire hours worth of action roughly. Now I don't wanna spoil this for anyone who aint seen it but if u have heard people who complain about not BEING ABLE TO SEE THE MONSTER in the movie then they r sadly mistaken. There r a few scenes were u see quite a clear picture of the monster. I looked up some background information on the movie and I think the monster is just an EXPERIMENT thing that went wrong and escaped from the army and that's how the whole WRECKING NEW YORK begins. Some people may not like the movie cos of the way the camera moves about alot seeing as it is seen through the vision of a handheld camera jus like the blair witch project but I think thats a GOOD idea cos too many times we see the MONSTER and no one else's REACTION. This is unique because for once, we get to see wat it's like for the individuals who r trying to flee the monster's terror. It's a great idea, I think.

Well I don't want to spoil the ENTIRE movie for u but there really is no PLOT as in "Gotta find out wat the monster is and then kill it!". Cos as I sed, it's about how these ppl r trying to ESCAPE so you don't really get to find out ANYTHING about the monster except that it's just something big trying to DESTROY New York. So if u wanna find out about the actual MONSTER and it's background then do wat I did before i saw the movie: Look for information about it on Google. Cos the whole movie is centered around a few people, one with a video camera, who are like everyone else: ESCAPING. Nothing more. It aint exactly Godzilla here Laughing

I saw it last night and the wobbly camera didn't bother me at all.

I enjoyed the whole film and agree about it being short, but as a camcorder tape is only about an hour I suppose they couldn't make it too long. With the camera light on my camcorder starts flashing low battery after ten minutes.

I would well recommend seeing the film at the cinema.

BTW. How come no one has mentioned the little monsters that drop off the main body and start scuttling about?
I say small, they were about the size of a big dog and in some ways they were the scariest part.

'Bite......we've got a bite over here.....AAAAHHHH!!!!

The main thing that annoyed me was....Why don't people in these films ARM THEMSELVES ????? They know the dark city is plagued by these critters but no one picks up an iron bar from the wreckage or something similar. Anything slightly more effective than bare hands and harsh language.

A fire axe gets used once but then the guy leaves it behind. Aren't Americans allowed to bear arms. Get a gun off a dead soldier or something.

Cloverfield gets an Audiothorguy recommendation.

Yeah!!!!!

lol those little MINI monsters were kinda freaky. And obviously they aint got WEAPONS! I mean like i sed, this is supposed to be a more REALISTIC approach to a MONSTER DESTRYOING THE CITY situation. So it aint gonna have this big bad ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER guy grabbin a machine gun and shoutin "Alright! Let's kick this monsters butt!!!" lol. I'm pretty sure if hundreds of little spider monster things and a 100 foot MASSIVE 4 armed monster thing was hunting u down...I think you'd run...I don't think I'd waste any time tryin to get a weapon lol. I'd just be running screaming like a little girl Embarassed Laughing

I would at least pick up a stick or... or something....

Why didn't he keep the AXE on him, as it had proven useful once??????

Even, now I think about it, there will probably be gangs of looters or any kinds of threats in a disaster situation. Arming yourself must be a good idea even if you are scared silly.

Thinking about it - If the big daddy creature is pretty much impervious to all that weaponry....And, I assume, the smaller things are made out of the same stuff.....How come the axe had an effect at all.

Don't tell me it can't be destroyed by a direct hit by a 1000 lb bomb but it can be cut by steel?

Hmmm Hollywood artistic licence.

Calm down, Audiothorguy....It's only a film.

Laughing that idiot SHOULD have kept the damn axe in the movie. I guess a NUCLEAR bomb woulda destroyed the thing. I guess thats wat they must have hit it with after everyone was evacuated.

I guess it was clever to have the camera left under a bridge and a load of rubble, so it would stand half a chance of surviving 'Operation Hammer Down'

They might not have gone nuclear at that point, though. They might have tried a Fuel/Air bomb first. Rumour has it that they have some massive warheads that approach small nuke power but don't have the same radiation problems.

I think there was quite a bit of clever thinking that went into that film. I really liked the way ambient sounds were used instead of incidental music. having done the soundtrack to Huntress, I appreciate things like that.

If you buy it on DVD when it comes out, are you going to have to sit throught that 'Federation Against Copyright Theft' warning? You know....The one that warns that, if you watch a pirate version of the movie, it will have poor sound quality and a wobbly picture like it's been recorded on a camcorder. If you notice that, then report it to them...????

Perhaps they'd better word it differently.

Laughing I downloaded a version of the movie on my computer and it's a pirate copy with a guy recording the movie onto a camera from the actual cinema screen. It was great quality compared to most of those types of pirates Laughing Except the sound quality was pretty crap cos the guy who was filming kept coughing and squeaking bout in his chair Rolling Eyes Kinda weird tho. Having a video camera take a video of a movie about a camera moving about ANYWAY! Twice the movement in the movie! Confused

I forgot to come back here after I saw it.

The POV made me horribly naseous. I had a headache for a few hours afterwards. The little monsters in the subway kind of made me laugh because they were making sounds 'rooow roow ooow' and it reminded me of my cat.

It was alright, probably won't see it again.

Yeah it was pretty good. It sometimes made you dizzy since it is in a documentary-like film. But your picture sure looked like the monster. Persnally i thought it had a Godzilla look to him also.
