I think that inside he's actually a nice guy. He was brought up by bad parents and death eaters, so he turned out like that but he really shows his true side in the last book.

Draco chosen what he chosen.He could go against his father and look on other side of life when he growed up and went to school,but no he wanted to go easier way because he is a coward.
He had other choice and seems he chosen bad and ended like bad person.

Well - he WANTED to be Potter's friend at the begining... He just choose wrong words to propose it Razz But hey! What do you expect from a boy raised to be the exact copy of his father? For all the 11 years before Hogwarts he was raised to be arrogant, selfish, money-loving, muggle-hating boy. It's not so easy to just forget all about it... He was under a lot of pressure from his parents... Of course I don't think that he was all nice and dandy but he HAD TO keep appearances... His whole world would crumble if he didn't... All that he knew and believed in... All he did was to be aknowledged by his father...
He didn't want to be Voldie's sidekick out of his own free will... It was because of Lucius AND fear...
