In the American edition, when Dumbledore and Harry enter Horace Slughorn's house, something "darkly red and glutinous was spattered over the wallpaper." Later, when asked what kind of blood it was, Slughorn explains, "On the walls? Dragon... My last bottle, and prices are sky-high at the moment." (p. 65) However, in Book 5 (OOTP), when Hagrid finally returns in Chapter 20, he is nursing his bloodied face with a green-tinged steak of dragon meat. "He picked up the steak and slapped it over the left side of his face. Greenish blood trickled down into his beard as he gave a soft moan of satisfaction."

That inconsistancy always really annoyed me. I'm guessing that perhaps different dragons have different colors of blood?

You think dragon blood goes with the color of skin?

Swedish blue-snout, Welsh common green, Chinese Fireball etc.?

It's possible.... or maybe it's like shrimp... when shrimp are raw they are grayish white. When they are cooked they are pink. Maybe Slughorn's blood had been cooked or had something added to it so it would be fresh when used in potions.

That would mean the Hungarian Horntail would ahve brown blood, I have never heard of that colour of blood.

But it could be possible, and Dumbledore did discover ten types of dragon blood, ask Dumbledore!

Actually DD found 12 uses for dragon's blood.

And yeah, I never heard of brown blood, either... but I also have never heard of green blood, lol.

There IS such thing as brown blood, but not every dragon has to have the same colour blood to go with their scales.

Yeah, it probably differs with scale color. That really isn't unusual, though. Dragons in Inheritance have eyes the same color as their scales.

It's Swedish short-snout, not blue snout.

^ That's what I assumed, too.

But I liked the idea of it being the same colour as the scales.
