Alan Rickman to begin filming OOTP in April
A fan of the actor who plays Severus Snape in the Harry Potter movies wrote to his assistant, Melanie Parker, and was informed that Alan would return to England in April in order to film Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Today also marks the 60th birthday of the actor. Happy birthday, Alan!

Happy Birfday Snape Razz

There could be no other to play Snape. Rickman is Snape. Even when I read the books before the movies started production I saw Rickman in my mind.

I absolutely love Rickman as Snape. Wonderful casting on his part. I hope he gets more screen time. I heard he was going to be in Sweeney Todd, the lovely musical about a murderous butcher... however, Depp will be playing the butcher (but if you ask me it should be the other way around).

The celebrated actor who portrays Severus Snape in the movies is a man of many talents. Alan Rickman, who I personally adore now, has this vibe that draws you to like any character he portrays. Actually, the first two movies never moved me to have any feelings towards the character except the loathing that Harry Potter displays as in the book. (I was more inclined towards Remus Lupin aka David Thewlis). But when the 4th movie came out, I must admit that he did grow on me. And since then, I've re-watched the first three HP films and felt that vibe from this versatile actor.

You should watch his other movies. ((He voiced Marvin in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and if you've never seen him portray a character the complete opposite of Snape, I suggest you watch Sense and Sensibility if you haven't yet. He's Colonel Christopher Brandon there.))

As an actor I think he is one of the best in those films if not the best.
But I loath the character, because in Sence and Sencability he was such a nice guy, but hear he is terrably mean, not in acting. Your right though, he seems a bit nicer in the fourth movie.
60, it seems impossible, I thought mabey late 40's.

Isn't Snape supposed to be in his 30's? Confused Ah well, Alan Rickman is an incredible actor.
