|
|
Why do you suppose that the magical community doesn't have devices that can make the lives of squibs easier? After, this is the world that they come from, and it doesn't seem fair that they should be forced intot the muggle world to stuck in dead-end jobs because they are only capable of so much. Now, I understand that a squib could never aspire to be an auror, but shouldn't squibs at least have the right to have aspirations past what the wizarding world forces them to do. Also, there should be a special school for squibs. They could have some of the Hogwarts subjects that do not include magic, and they could be given advice on how to make in the the wizarding world without magic.
For goodness sakes, if muggles can make it possible to a perosn without legs to run in races, then the wizarding world should make it possible for squibs to have lives that are just as ful-filled as the the witches and wizards. _________________

I guess they need to work on their equal rights laws...
Arabella Figg lived as a muggle, and Filch was most likely just bitter. I wonder if they chose their path, even if inadvertantly.
I also wonder if it has to do with their upbringing. I'm sure it's not that different from a child who is disabled. Sometimes their parenys work hard to bring them every benefit, while other kids get screwed. _________________

Part of Filtch's bitterness is due to his quibness. Filtch and Figg are the only two squibs that I know of who are mentioned in the Potter books, but how many do you suppose were forced to live in the muggle world all alone. Think of the trauma this would cause. I just feel so bad for squibs, even though the books aren't real. _________________

I feel bad, too. At least, I feel bad for the squibs like Filch who obviously felt ashamed and grew to have severe bitterness. But for all we know Mrs. Figg had a better life. She didn't seem bitter at all. In fact, she was very kind to Harry and worked as hard as she could to keep him safe. She might have had a very happy life, for all we know. _________________

They should have rights like everyone else.I would never discriminate a squib because he/she can't make magic. That's so stupid thing to do.
But in order to have rights squibs have to fight for it and if I could help I would. _________________ You are the weak one!!!You will never know love or friendship and I feel sorry for you!!!

If Harry Potter was real, being a squib would be worse then being a muggle.
Imagine if you were born into all that and knew all about it, and then you wernt able to take part!
I guess that is how a disabled person would feel. _________________

i just thought of the wizarding short bus for the squibs.
i also feel that theres products that are enchanted to do things for example a broom is enchanted to fly if a word is given. there was no incantation to make it fly.
can't squibs use these things as long as they dont have to produce magic? _________________

I don't think that the brooms are enchanted to fly. I always assumed that the wizards magic made it possible. _________________

I think they are definitely enchanted. Because otherwise kids wouldn't be allowed to use them. _________________

Apparently, they are enchanted to fly. It just makes more sense to me if their own magically abitlities cause them to fly. It seems rather irresponsible for the wizarding world to accept such a mundane object with charms to be left in the hands of masses of wizards:

you know what they could take up? ancient runes and history of magic, and they could be wizarding historians, daily prophet correspondents, writers, etc... _________________

Exactly. They don't have to take up the subjects with wands needed. _________________

It's a form of Divination through numbers.

Oh, so they do need to use magic in it.
And Ancient Runes, do they use anything that involves magic? _________________

Arithmancy does not require magic. It is fortune-telling with numbers. People have been doing that for years. Ancient runes doesn't need magic, either.
If I were a squib, being a historian would be perfect for me. That was a great idea, HBP. _________________

| I think Muggle Studies would be a fabulous class for a Squib. They'd learn all about how it is to live without Magic. |

I came across this while reading DH today...
DH ch 8; pg 155 (US ed)
"Squibs are usually shipped off to Muggle schools and encouraged to integrate into the Muggle community...much kinder than trying to find them a place in the Wizarding world, where they must always be second class; but naturally Kendra Dumbledore wouldn't have dreamed of letting her daughter go to a Muggle school - "
I thought it was interesting that in a way it would be kinder to hand the squibs over to the Muggle world. But I think that if there was more equality, then it would be a matter of finding then a place to fit in. They can't do magic, so living in the Wizarding world would be difficult. There would always be a seperation. You would have to wonder if they would even want to be a part of the Wizarding world. _________________

They should have that option, though. They hardly have the option without equal rights. There will always be a seperation, yes, but wizards could help to at least bridge that gap for squibs. They shouldn't be shipped off to muggle schools. It seems way too shady that way. _________________

hmm... there's also something in that actually... if they are in the wizarding world, they will always be second class... but if they are in the muggle world, theyll be with their equals... _________________

They won't necesarrily be second-class. There will always be a seperation only because they won't be able to participate in certain activities. It is a stretch to call them second-class, though. I think that squibs could live quite happily in the wizarding world and earn the respect of many wizards if they can get past the fact that they will never be able to perform magic. _________________

No, because magic is needed to make potions. The trie is often described in the book as using their wands and uttering incantations while brewing potions in class. _________________
