And as so many others have said.
I agree they would be great if dumbledore liked women. _________________ Weasley is our King.

Dumbledore is gay and I fully applaude that, there are rarely any gay characters in books and he wasn't exactly a small role. I think that it really suits his powerful status. Plus Minerva is just too strict! _________________ Put down your quill...and enter the madness of your mind!

Before the whole 'Dumbledore is gay' thing, I thought that they would make a nice couple.

But Minerva doesn't really trust Hagrid that much, Minerva and Slughorn would be perfect! _________________

I'd like to think they would've made a good couple, but Dumbledore is gay. *half-smile* _________________

Ditto.
But after Dumbledore's outing, I don't mind about them not being together. _________________

McGonagall and Dumbledore seemed too cheap for me. The Headmaster who falls in love with his only fifty years old younger right hand just to prove the old pun that Age Matters Not true is just too cheap and too poorly made. Neither of these characters seems to be really a relationship type, seeing as Dumbledore doesn't like women that way and Minerva is devoted to teaching students, even though we know little, or nothing, about her private life, just like we know nothing about the private life of nearly every other teacher in Hogwarts. I really doubt, seeing as professors spend 90% of their time in Hogwarts, that they have any private life at all. It's a sacrifice to be made in the name of education.
I doubt the fact that Dumbledore might have fancied a guy, 100 years ago, makes him unable to fall for anything else though. Nobody set Grindelwald the love of Dumbledore's life. It is the only person we know Dumbledore liked romantically so far, and I think that the death of Ariana is a big enough shock to snap Albus out of his bubble. I doubt he had any emotions like that after the incident. Would you love the guy that might have killed your sister, or that might know, and might be able to tell you, that you killed your sister? I would fear him as much as I'd hate him. And we know, for one, that Dumbledore did fear Grindelwald, since he admits it himself in the King's Cross chapter.
I think Dumbledore merely stopped seeing such things important after the incident. We know for a fact that it was the most terrifying event in his life, for it's what he saw when he drank the potion (according to Harry, but J.K.R. wouldn't let our Harry do a mistake, would she now >.>) and we also know that Ariana's corpse is Dumbledore's Boggart. I would say he concentrated on gathering knowledge but not making over-use of it, merely deciding to hand the knowledge to the students of Hogwarts, which, of course is Minerva's aim too!
I'd say the reason people like the Minerva/Dumbledore ship is out of lack of any other information about the two. We don't know anything about McGonagall's personal life, and we don't want McGonagall to ship with Snape since we know about him. We sure don't want Binns and surely not Hagrid. And since Slughorn isn't mentioned until book 6, the only remaining option is Dumbledore. Had we known about Minerva's private life, we wouldn't be raving over it would we?
Then again, you'd say that Harry/Hermione shippers have proof shoved up their faces about what's the real couple yet they still keep shipping Harry/Hermione... then again, this is one of the mysteries of the universe. Along with finding out how the universe was created, I want to find out how the Harry/Hermione idea was created too...
Aand, on a side note, I need to stop making huge posts. *scratches head* _________________ Fact 1: Moody rocks your socks. And mine too.

Yeah, I thought that for the longest time that they had something going on.
But when I found out that Dumbledore was gay, I had this funny mental image of him being the stereotypical gay friend giving fashion advice.
"OH, MINERVA, that emerald hat looks just FAB-U-LOUS on you, darling!" |

Yeah, I thought AD/MM was cute too. Until Grindelwald. LOL.
I got the feeling Dubledore grew asexual as he grew older, though. |
