I only seen the 3 movies(extended versions).
I found them boring as hell execpt for the scenes with sauron and the battles. They just dragged on and on. Fellowship of the ring was my fav. Especially Gandalf vs the Balrog. |

I've only read the Fellowship of the Ring, but seen all three films and I loved them. I really want to buy the rest of the books. _________________

Honestly I am a huge Lord Of The Rings fan, I've read almost ever book out there that Tolkien has wrote, but also Harry Potter takes it away. _________________

i keep on trying to read them, but i just can't get into it properly because the 1st chapter is too long. Most of the people that i know who've read it say that it gets a lot better after that, but at this moment in time for me the lord of the rings books don't compare to harry potter in my opinion.
I did take a peek a parts of the two towers and from what i read that one looks like a good book.
Also when people say that a book will always be better, well i disagree with that because what about those people who prefer to visually see something than read it.
Well i know you are talking about lord of the rings, but lets me use HP as an example.
I like books and movies just about equally. I like the books because they give a lot more detail than the movies, but i like the movies because i like to visually see something than read something. |

I enjoyed reading the third one and second. But one was a bit boring too me. The whole series I would rate is 27/30! _________________

the hobbit isn't a part of the lord of the rings trilogy. its the prequel to it. and far less interesting than lotr itself. so I would still suggest you at least try fellowship of the ring. or at least watch the movies. _________________

I have. But it is very rare because most of the time the books of the movies are better. But this one was different the movies were better than the books. _________________ "Yes, I have. The Lord of the Rings is a great read! I think it is a must read for any Harry Potter fan as many of the ideas in LotR are emulated in the HP books. The movies are excellent as well. I guess you could say I'm a bit obsessed with LotR. _________________

I disagree! The movies left so much of the story out! The books were so intricate with detail, and they really draw you in. The movies, however, are just something you watch for a few hours. The movies were quite good, but nothing surpasses the books. _________________

well. i loved both, books and movies. ive said that before, but just felt like saying it again.
i can watch the movies anytime, and immediatly fall into some kinda trance like state. i love them.
im the exact same with the books. once i start reading its hard to stop, but one thing i appreciate more in the books, is the amount of detail. although they tried to capture this in the movies, its so more amazing in the books. your imagination can really run wild.

^ i totally agree. the character of frodo in the movie completly annoyed me. in the books i always pictured him as some undying hero (if that makes sense) but the movie just made me think he was a selfish coward who doesnt deserve the respect and loyalty sam gives him. _________________
