Here's the article from MuggleNet:

Several visitors have sent in this article from the Daily Mail, which claims crews working on Half-Blood Prince have been told the final film will be split:

A film source said: "There's so much to fit that the view is the last movie should be in two halves. There is a huge battle when Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, takes on Voldemort that needs to be done really well."

What's more, the Daily Mail claims that big name directors such as Steven Spielberg are being considered to direct Deathly Hallows. We'll look into this rumor and let you know what Warner Brothers has to say!

This is going to be awesome. Any thoughts?

that'd be weird...7 books but 8 films. and what would they call them? part one and part two, or will they ask jk for another name or will they just make one up?

i'm split on this...they can fit so much more in with two but...i hate to split it cuz its meant to be together. it would spread out the harry potterness though, give us longer to have new stuff. hmmm.

They would probably release them closer to eachother than if it were two entire different titles.

I really like this idea, but don't they know that HP fans would no doubt sit through a four hour movie? We'd watch it all day.

Order of the Phoenix was a much longer book and so far the shortest movie. For them to split up Deathly Hallows would be ludicrous. If they are considering doing it for DH, then why did they all refuse to do that for OotP? It should be 7 films for 7 books.

UPDATE: Empire Online is now quoting WB as saying "no decision has been made," in part because no script exists yet. Steve Kloves cannot begin work on the Deathly Hallows script because of the US writer's strike. We'll let you know more once we hear it!

Well, I personally thought this would be a good 3 - 3.5 hr movie. It surely wouldn't be 4 hours anyway, but I like the idea of one whole movie, 'cause there'd be a few months to a year wait between the two halves.

If the movie is that hard to make then I would rather just wait for a later release date of one whole long movie.

Me, too.

I think it'll be... stressful waiting for the second part, lol. It's hard to explain... but yeah, I think I'll be more anxious than excited waiting for the second part.

I heard that was a rumor and really, it's fake. I read it on IMDB a few minutes ago. I also heard that this movie comes out in 2010. I can't wait for it. Very Happy

IMDB doesn't know everything. I trust MuggleNet more. I just listened to their podcast and they're betting that this time, the rumor is true.

they should stop part 1 right after the Gringotts scenes, and then have the 2nd part pick up right when they get to Hogwarts, that way part 2 can just be one big battle. and they should have Steven Spielberg Direct part 1, and have Peter Jackson(who is great with epic battles) do part 2.

I don't think that would be a smart idea. Emma Watson was really considering not doing the last two, I don't think she would stick around for 3 more.

I agree completely! It would be torture watching half of the story and then having to wait so long to see the conclusion.

But there was a rumor about two films being made for Goblet of Fire also and that never happened. So, we'll all just have to wait and see. I don't think they are focusing so much on that film yet!
