i dunno what you think of this, but i read it in veritaserum, another hp fansite.
here's what he said:
Could Aberforth be the barman of the Hog’s Head? Dumbledore speaks very little about his brother, Aberforth. In fact, the few times he is mentioned it sounds like it’s of no importance. But the few times has led me to wonder about Dumbledore’s brother. The first time Aberforth is mentioned is in the GoF when Rita Skeeter writes about Hagrid’s mother. During the talk in Hagrid’s hut between Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid and Dumbledore, Dumbledore says, “My own brother Aberforth was charged with doing illegal charms on a goat. It was all over the papers, but did Aberforth hide. No he did not. He held his head high, and went on with his business as usual.” Possibly the Hog’s Head? In the OotP, Mad-eye Moody shows a photo of the original Order. He mentions Aberforth. Also, in the OotP, the first meeting of Dumbledore’s Army takes place in the Hog’s Head. Harry describes the barman as tall and thin with long grey hair, a beard, and looking slightly familiar. It sounds a bit like Dumbledore, and if they were brothers, they might look alike. The bar also smelled something like goats. Aberforth did illegal charms on a goat. I think this is a connection. And finally, in the HBP, during the memory of Voldemort requesting the job, Dumbledore lists all the Death Eaters that are in the Hog’s Head. Dumbledore explains it as “merely [being] friendly with the local barman”. I would say “Oh, my brother Aberforth is the barman of the Hog’s Head, and we talk a lot, but don’t tell anyone.” But of course, who would tell Voldemort you were related to a barman? And that would be too obvious for us. I think Aberforth and Dumbledore were closer than we thought…maybe even close enough to share the Horcrux secret. Could Aberforth be the key to locating the Horcruxes? _________________

Aberforth is, in fact, the bar keeper of Hog's Head. And it's the perfect place for him. He overhears the best stuff. The clientele is a bit dodgy and the misgoingons are a bit shady... he is perfectly positioned to find out some of the best kept secrets in the wizarding world. I don't believe he is working there undercover, though. He got himself into a bti of trouble involving a goat back in the day and is now making a living for himself in a dim bar in Hogsmeade, which happens to be near his dear brother. _________________

I agree with the idea that Aberforth is indeed the barman. However, I find it a bit odd that we do not read about him attending Dumbledore's funeral. Did i miss that part or was I correct in my observation? And if so, where is he now and do you think he will appear in Book 7? _________________

No harry knows what aberforth looks like because of the OOTP picture moody showed him. i dont know if aberforth is even alive anymore. maybe he'll show up with his inappropriate goat next book... _________________ sometimes love can make you selfish, sometimes it makes you stupid. sometimes it just reminds you why you love your gun. |

maybe aberforth in the order was much younger than aberforth in the hog's head. that's why harry didnt recognize him. its a perfect situation, yeah. near his brother. and that explains why dumbledore knows about the goings-on in hogsmeade, like that there were death eaters accompanying tom riddle. of course, he wouldnt say "oh, my brother aberforth told me". he would just say that he is friendly with the local barmen. _________________

I agree that Aberforth is the barman, O cource he would look different fromthe picture. It he looked at all like Dombledor no one would tell him anything. Be sides, Dumbledor dresses clean and neat were as the Hogshead is a doggy place and I'm sure Aberforth looked his part. _________________ Name:Nathan Wolgeth

aberforth seems like the exact opposite of dumbledore.
dumbledore is so intelligent, whereas maybe aberforth doesnt even know how to read (dd said that in gof)
dumbledore is highly respected by society, aberforth is just a simple owner of a filthy pub
dumbledore is clean, aberforth, well, judging by the state of his pub, doesn come across as a very clean guy
yet, dumbledore loves him. and he remains very loyal to dumbledore as well. do you think we will get another glimpse of him?? i mean, he can very well tell us the life story of dumbledore. atyer all, jk said that we will learn more about dd. _________________

Thanks, Ginnyx. Mind you, I haven't read that book since it came out. Now I'm working on re-reading them all and noticing the finer details (I'm currently on CoS). _________________

Aberfourth Is the Barman at the Hogshead. J.K. Rowling confirmed it, at least that's what it say's on Wiki. Not sure if it is true. Aberfourth (Jim McManus) is set to set apperence in the 5th Movie.
Read on Wiki....

wow! thank you!
yes it is true. i checked the source wikipedia used for that. it came from jkr's website. sometimes, wiki may be reliable. all you need to do is to check their references and make sure they come from reliable ones like jkr's official site.
here's an interesting bit i got from there.
| Quote: |
| If the theory that RAB is Regulus Black and the missing horcrux is indeed the locket from Grimmauld Place (mentioned briefly in the Order of the Phoenix), then it is possible that Aberforth is now in possession of Slytherin's locket due to the dealings he had with Mundungus Fletcher in Half-Blood Prince. |
