One of my dissapointments in the movies is the Gryffindor common room. It is supposed to hold seventy students, but it looks like it could only hold about ten or twenty. Or am I missing something?

The Gryffindor common room does seem small to me, esp. compared to the Slytherin common room. Cozy though!

Cozy, definitely.
I didn't think it looked too small. But we also never really saw it in this film with a lot of students in it.

well I think the Gryffindoor common room will hold more than 20 but the Slytherin common room is considerably huge compared to Gryffindoors!

I did think the Gryffindor Common Room was quite tiny, and Slytherin's is considerably large in comparison

With some magic the students could widen it. But that's just a guess.

The Slytherin Common Room is bigger and heeps darker because it is under the Black Lake!

And the Gryffindor Common Room is small for some reason!

Yea there was like only 2 tables and 2 big chairs and one sofa. While in the Slytherin room although you cant see much it does look like you could fit alote more

Well we knpw there are roughly 5 beds in each dormitory. And there are 7 year groups times two. so including the boys and girls. Not the pets and anything else the students have in the common room, there are 70. Also every Gryffindor student was in the common room when Ginny weasley was taken by the Hier of Slytherin, sitting around gloomily. it was described by JKR. So it is not possible for the Common Room to be as small as it is in the movies

In the movies they couldn't possibly make the common room that big because it costs money and they wouldn't be using it too much, so would there even have been a point? They just made it the Gryffindor color, cozy looking and a decent size for them to act in.

True, but in contrast to the Slytherin common room it looks small.
