well, post whatever you want about the schools. it seemed kinda stupid to me to make up a new thread about where durmstrang might be.

but this is what i gotta say about it.
- i do think it is in bulgaria.

i had that debate with myself coz bulgaria is sort of like southern europe, so it cant be colder than britain, which is up north... but apparently...

the average min temperature in sofia, the capital of bulgaria, is -4... thats in jan.
the average min temp. in london is +2...

however, the average max temp in sofia is 27, which is in july.
the average max temp in london is 22...

well... i suppose that at least one time in the eyar bulgaria is colder than london... so yeah its possible theyre in bulgaria.

Well, I sort of got that Durmstrang is colder than Scotland because of the fur on their collars. And when the trio spot Krum swimming, they mention how he is probably used to it and it might even feel warmer than what he is used to.

And I honestly think it's unarguable that Beauxbatons is in France. I mean... duh. The name itself means "pretty wands" in French.

oh there's no doubt beauxbatons is in france... the name, the name of the headmistress... the name "fleur"... and the way she thinks the french school is superior to 'Ogwarts.

I think Durmstrang is somewhere in the Finland/Norway/Sweden area. Or it could be in Greenland.

I think the two schools are locationless, much in the same way that Springfield is.

I've always figured Durmstrang to be somewhere in Scandinavia.

krum played on the Bulgarian quidditch team, so he is from bulgaria. that doesn't mean the school is in bulgaria, though. malfoy's dad said something about sending draco to school there, but his mom didn't like the idea of him being so far away, which means people from all over the world can attend school there. meaning it could be anywhere, since krum probably travels to get to the school. i always pictured durmstrang to be in the top of the scandinavian peninsula.
