That's what's so genius about it. We can't see why she would like Snape, the idea is kind of odd or some people call it gross.

She can see the good in people so it makes sense that she would see something in him that other ( even readers) cannot see.

I thin they could have loved eachother.

I'm certain he loved her, I'm just not sure about her loving him in return.

You'll notice that Lupin said that James, even when he had stopped hexing everyone he never stopped fighting with Snape. This makes me believe that Snape and Lily did have a relationship that only James knew about. He did have the mauraders Map.

I think if it is true, JK will write it in such a way that Severus' feeling for Lily is confirmed but the readers will not know if she returned the feelings. Maybe Severus wouldn't even know. For whatever reason I don't think he would have made is clear to her, how he felt. But James, being a guy would have picked up on it and try to embarass Snape in front of her.

Just because she spent time with him doesnt mean she loved him either..which is all the map could prove... plus James isnt the only one who didnt like snape...lupin and sirius didnt either......they knew he was a dark wizard... he was a deatheater after all.. He was not a death eater in school.

And James could have poisioned thier minds against him. How many times do we hate the people who our best friends hate just because they hate them. You'll notice that adult Lupin has no hard feeling towards Snape. where as Sirius who JK said is in arrested development still treats Snape with no respect. I believe of all the people in the book that Sirius and Snape are both living in the past.

I'm just that at this point the question is now if Snape liked Lily because that is obvious, the question is if Lily liked snape in a romantic way.

i know he wasnt a death eater in school...but he was a slytherin.. and in the first book ron told harry something like "there hasnt been a dark witch or wizard that didnt come from that house" plus, you can kind of tell when someone is up to no good... With his high prejudice and hate for everyone who wasnt like him, why wouldnt he join up with volde?

Ah you see Ron said there hasn't been a dark witch or wizard that hasn't come from Slytherin. HE never said that there has been a Slytherin who wasn't a dark witch or wizard. There's a difference. Besides Petter was in gryffindor.... look how he turned out.

im just saying that voldemort stood for antimuggleborn, and anti "mixed-blood" which is also what snape believes.. or at least...believed

no, lily never loved snape like she loved james.
but she was compassionate to the greasy loser.
and so snape fell in love with her,
the only woman he ever loved.

and when he found out that voldie killed her,

i wrote a harry potter fanfic featuring snape loves lily.

here's an excerpt:

“Potter, did you know that your mother hated your father too? She hated his guts, his nerve, his inflated –”

“Yes I do! But they ended up married! Happily married with a son. And where was Severus Snape? Skulking in a corner, with no one to love him but his moth –”

“CRUCIO!”

Harry felt as though his bones were on fire. He could barely breathe. Severus Snape was going to destroy the sixth Horcrux, tonight, in this very shack. He was going to die… and then it all stopped.

“Oh yes Potter, they ended up married, while I was left without anyone. And what did your mother get? She met her doom! She died when she need not have died! It was all because she saved your skin! You worthless, no-good, brainless…!!!”

Snape was clutching his chest by this time. He was turning purple. But he regained his strength in no time, fueled perhaps by his fury.

“Had it not been for you, Lily would still have been alive. Lily should never have died for you! Lily should never have married that bigheaded scoundrel! She should have married me instead!”

What? Thought Harry. It was impossible? Severus Snape loved his mother? Harry’s stomach dropped a good two inches.

“Lily was the only one who showed compassion towards me when everybody else ridiculed me! Lily was the only one who saved me from altogether surrendering to the practice of Dark Arts! She was the one who taught me that there was more to life than power! She taught me about love! But all the same, she took that away from me!”

Snape was beside himself. Harry had never seen him this angry. Not even when he had a glimpse of Snape’s worst memory with James, or even when Harry chased Snape calling him a coward after he had killed Dumbledore. He looked dangerous, even murderous. He sprayed spit on Harry as he burst out what he had been repressed in his heart for eighteen long years. He was shaking so badly he might have had a heart attack. His voice was quivering, and his hands were trembling beyond control.

Harry still had a hard time believing that Snape has loved his mother. This was getting too far. Snape not actually betraying Dumbledore was one difficult thing to believe. But Snape loving his mother? That was far-fetched. Snape never loved anyone. Snape was not capable of loving. He had no heart. And he called her a Mudblood. He had hated her, Harry concluded. But what madness was Snape saying? Harry could see no reason why he would say all this to him. So it might be true, that Snape did love his mother after all? But why did he call her a Mudblood? Harry wanted to ask, but did not trust himself. As for Snape, the words seemed to burst out of his mouth after sixteen years of repressed emotion.

“That is what brought me to Voldemort’s side! I vowed to take revenge upon your father. I wanted to break him up, tear him up into pieces, limb by limb. He took away my only love. Had Lily married me, she would not have died! I would have protected her even if it led to my death! I was the one who told Dumbledore that Voldemort was after your parents, when I learned that it involved Lily. I was determined to do everything I could just so Lily would not be killed. I even pleaded to Voldemort not to kill her, and promised to be his slave just as long as he would not hurt her! I loved Lily Evans and I would never have let her die! But she did! And it was all because of you! And I am going to have my revenge now! Crucio!”

Alot of people in this forum remind me of James Potter,you probably catching a snitch or ruffling your hair right now aren't you?My point is that NEVER not in one page in one book does Snape ever say anything bad about Lily,not once in all the snide comments about his dad never once does he insult Lily.The only time he has showed Malice to her is in a memory in which he called her a mudblood,it's possible that thats what made it his worst memory.What if it's not his worst memory because James tortured him infront of people but because he did it in front of Lily or maybe Lily and Snape where freinds and his calling her a mudblood broke up their freindship?He was guarding his feelings you can tell that Lily and him must know each other from the way they talk to each other besides that we know that lily was in Sluggy's N.E.W.T potions and so was Snape so what if thats how they became freinds and then at the end of the year he blows it with her?

Notice that Snape always says how harry reminds him of James be he never mentions Lily,it's probably this reason that he hates harry.Harry is a everyday reminder of James and of Snape losing Lily.

Here's a comedic (at least it was meant to be) fanfiction that I started about a summer Lily and Severus spent together. I've tried to keep it authentic to the seventies and keep them acting like teenagers. Needless to say, I have spent a lot of time on wikipedia. I also had to search my own memory to remember how I felt at that age and add some serious spice ( I have always been a very very very, all most too good girl). So this actually required work. So if you read it, please leave a review.

Here's a brief look over at the chaters so far. Remember this is a romantic comedy.

Chapter one.

Severus asks his parents for money so he can buy new underpants. His father tells him to get a job. He decides to get a job in Liverpool because no one he knows is form there. But he is wrong.

Chapter two:

He runs into Lily. They start to spend time together ans Snape sort of tricks Lily to inviting him to her house.

Chapter three.

He goes to her house meets her mother and Petunia. And Lily is not what she seems.

Chapter four

They play a silly muggle game and Lily starts to interrogate Snape about his crushes.

Chapter five.

Severus mother is convinced that Lily is his girlfriend. Severus gets Petunia back for her rudeness to him and Lily.

Chapter six.

This is just a silly chapter where it seems to Severus that Lily is making advances at him.

CHapter eight.

Lily, Severus and Petunia meet up with a bunch of other teenagers in the neighbourhood. They decide to play spin the bottle. Guess who gets to kiss who.

Chapter eight.

This is when they really start to act like normal teenagers.

Chapter nine.

My personal favorite. Severus has an argument with his mother over Lily.

I think that Snape did love Lily, hence his hate for Harry, big punch where it hurts.

I don't think that Lily loved him latr on maybeat the bigiing there was a bit of a crush thing going on.... I think they were friends though, even if in the memory Sape called her a mudblood i think that they were friends, people say stupid things in situations like that.
