I've got to plug The Dresden Files on here. Definitely geared to a more mature age group than Harry Potter (though it is about a wizard named Harry ) It's urban fantasy with a bit of mystery thrown in. _________________ I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. Oops, forgot to put the author. They're by Jim Butcher. He also writes a, high fantasy I guess, series - Codex Alera - but I haven't gotten around to reading those yet. (Anyone who watches the SciFi channel may remember the Dresden Files tv series - which got cancelled - damn you SciFi) _________________ I don't have a lot of experience with vampires, but I have hunted werewolves. That's why it sounded familiar, I think I saw commercials for it. I'll check out the series, it sounds like i would like them. Thanks! _________________

I agree with anyone who's said LotR, Artemis Fowl, Tamora Pierce, Redwall, and the Chronicles of Narnia.
I have to add:
The Keys to the Kingdom
The Old Kingdom Trilogy
(both by Garth Nix)
And the ever loved by me,
The Pit Dragon Trilogy by Jane Yolen _________________

1) His dark Materials
2) Skammarens dotter (norwegian)
Ok, they aren't the best fantasy books of all time, but they deserve to be on the list somewhere... |

1. Tamora Pierce's Tortall books.
2. I fairly recently read Holly Black's trilogy. Not sure what the trilogy name is, but the books were called Tithe, Valiant, and Ironside. I loved 'em.
3. Not a series, but Ella Enchanted. It's been one of my favorites for years. Short and easy to read, but so good. _________________
