I just started rereading the series and I noticed that Grindwald was defeated in the same year as WWII ended. Does anyone else share my oppinion that Rowling was making a connection between Nazi Germany and Grindwalds forces?

JKR said that the whole pureblood vs muggleborn thing was a reference to the Nazis and their messed up values.

There are a lot of similarities between HP and WWII, because they are both about great people facing the ultimate evil.

I'm actualy talking about The guy Dumbledor defeated, not voldimort. Yes the books draw connections with hp but that's not on this thread. I'm talking about the fact tha Grindwalds defeat and that of the Third Riect happened at the same time.

Actually, that would work. Why did Hitler Disappear without a trace? A little transfiguration for Grendewald's part, and he becomes a muggle chancelor -- the tragic double life of a neurotic control freak wizard.

That could work out but I don't think JK would do that.

The prison was called Nurmengard.

Well, more specifically, Nuremberg was the place where the Nuremberg Trails were held. The trial were named for the city it was held in.

It's interesting that Grindelwald built Nurmengard for prisoners and then was later held their himself. Not unlike the Nazis, who imprisoned people and then were forced to go to prison themselves.

I don't try to. But apparantly it's just a gift I possess. It's not a gift, it's more like a curse. Sad
