| How old is Harry in the first book anyway? I thought he was 11 then. If true, he will be 17 in the final book but Dan will be 20 or older. And Rubert and Emma will get the same trouble. |

Harry is 17 in DH. Daniel Radcliffe won't be 20, he'll be 19. when he films DH. That is only 2 years older. Check out other movies on imdb.com. You'll be surprised to see that the majority of actors who play 17 year olds are actually even older than 19 years old.
Emma Watson is actually the exact same age as Hermione, in September they start filming HBP. Hermione was 17 years old. So is Emma Watson. Rupert Grint is only a year older than Daniel Radcliffe. Again, it is not shocking for an actor to not play their age. Very rarely do actors ever play a character their exact same age. _________________

It's true that most actors who play teenagers are older than the characters...usually in their later teens or even their twenties.
For instance,...
I was surprised to find out once that the guy in the Disney movie about the Leprechaun...who is an 8th grader in the movie...so like 13-ish...was actually 21! _________________

Yup.... The cast of Beverly Hills 90210... by the time the characters graduated from high school some cast members were pushing 30. That was extreme. Two years, even 3 is nothing lol _________________

| Michael J. Fox was 24 when he first played high school student Marty McFly, and was pushing 30 by the time of the 3rd movie. Virtually all of the main cast in Smallville were 20 or older when they were supposed to be freshmen in high school. Heck, the actress who plays Moaning Myrtle is well into her 30s. There's a long tradition of actors playing characters younger than themselves, especially for short actors (Sean Astin is another that comes to mind). I don't think the cast for Harry Potter will be that far off by the time they actually film the final movie. |

I used to think the same thing about the HP actors and their ages, but all of the above have good points, and I guess two or so years really isn't anything big.

(pertaining to HBP movie) "An open casting call was held in July 2007 for the role of Tom Riddle where the applicants read from a scene involving Riddle trying to persuade Horace Slughorn to explain what Horcruxes were. Though Christian Coulson played Riddle in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), and expressed interest in returning, Yates has commented that Coulson is too old, nearing 30, to be playing the role.
that suprised me that he was already nearing 30 |

LOL...I too thought about 90210. Dylan/Luke Perry?!?!...he never looked like a high schooler.
I have no problems w/ Dan Rad and company being a little older. |

Harry is 17 in DH (which is when he surprisingly turns 17 with a kiss from Ginn. SARCASM) _________________

Harry is 16 at the beginning of DH, and turns 17 during the book, while he's staying at the Weasleys.
Another thing I found was an actor called Nicholas Brendon who played the character of Xander in the TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer. At the start of the series, he was about 27 or 28 playing a 16 year old. |
