Ok yeah it seems like he snaps at everyone all the time in this book. I mean like hes angry at everything and anything the whole entire book. That's kinda what made it one of my least favorite books.
Ok yes maybe its a little much. But you would probably act in the same way if you were in his sittuation. _________________ Name: Arwen Black

I thought he was very angry more towards the end but still throughout the book yes. It was upsetting when he didn't say much to Hagrid near the end just because he was angry...
harry is one of the only charaters that really annoy me it has been getting worse all the time and what is with his shouting at ron and hermione and boasting about what he has done....

I agree. I liked him in the first few books, but for the last three, he has gotten really arrogant. I know he can't be perfect...but I"m sick of his arrogance. He won't tolerate his friends disagreeing with him ect. _________________ It unscrews the other way. (McGonagall in OotP)
And thus Snape is right when he tells HArry that he is just like his father... arrogant. I dont like HArry much either... the main reason I support people who think Harry will die in the end or he and Voldemort will die in the end. All because of the last two books... he has annoyed me to no return! I'll prolly laugh when Radcliff dies on screan too!!!
i think he has witnessed so much evil that he has become bitter himself, and he realizes that he has to face all these evils, and so he feels isolated from the rest of the world, which is enough to make anyone so angry with the world. its like, "why me?"
and then, he's grown a bit arrogant, yes. maybe because he's more comfortable now in the magical world, and he has friends. yes, these are the people whom you love but take for granted. he wouldnt shout at cho unless he were so sick of her. but he'd shout at ron coz ron is his friend and he knows ron wont hate him for that. its a sad thing, but its better because the person lets you see who he really is, rather than putting his best foot forward. _________________

Honestly I think Harry is going through his angsty teenage years where its "WAAAAAAAAH NO ONE UNDERSTANDS ME!!!" Seriously he's about the right age... I'm not sure if any of you guys notice this but most people go through this stage nowadays. _________________ Do it the Potter Style!
Yeah, I felt that way about this book, too. Harry is one of my favorite characters, but I liked him least in the beginning of this book. I figured it was partly to show that he's 15 and going through the angst that is typical at that age.
I also thought the carping that was so prevalent in this book was meant to underscore that Voldemort's return will drive wedges between people.
And also, to show that he is not perfect. James Potter was not perfect and Snape was right to say he was arrogant. Here we see Harry has personality problems, too.
ummm lots of hpb spoilers in here, I'll just tag it all
Spoiler:
I think its also to show how much he grows...in hbp he yells at dumbledore when he finds out it was snape who sent voldy after his parents, but he admirably refrains from trapping his office and yelling some more. and he didn't go into immediate denial with dumbledore's death either. Shows how much difference a year can make at that age. Sure he was getting arrogant...but I think the whole sirius fiasco took him down a peg or two or three.
thing is, you cant expect him to be docile all the time, not with what he's seen, not wth what he has experienced. he lost something like a father to him. he's been longing for a father, isnt able to properly live with him, then he's taken away from him. if he were too docile id expect that he didnt love sirius anyway...
i wasnt annoyed with the harry at the end of ootp.
he wwas kinda annoying though in the beginning, but it was normal. i can imagine his furstration. id be frustrated too if that was me. _________________

the kid is just starting to go through puberty, probably, and wouldnt it be depressing to be in harrys spot? he has people pamper him all his life, the chosen one, the boy who lived, blah blah blah, has to go back every summer to muggles who could care less about him, and basically has the weight of the world on his shoulders. i would get irritated easily too if in his situation. _________________
I wouldn't say he's been pampered at all. Like you said he goes back to the Dursley's but he was mistreated for 10 years, day in day out by them. And Snape and Malfoy make his experiences at Hogwarts anything but all good, plus his second year he went through a bunch of crap from all the students. _________________
and 5th year you have umbridge depriving him of everything that makes Hogwarts enjoyable. I'd be liable to explode too. In fact, it'd probably take a lot less to get me raging like that. _________________
i just think he he's feeling sorry for himself. in the begining of #5 he was only stuck at privet for a month and he starts freaking out at ron & hermoine _________________
well i completely understand him, being hot tempered myself. ill probably throw anything and everything i see right at the faces of the stupidly grinning ron and hermione. and maybe ill break albus dumbledore's calm old face, pour some muggle potion called bleach on the greasy head of severus snape, and drag umbridge around her school by her feet. _________________

His family is nigh abusive, he just watched a classmate murdered in front of him, he almost gets expelled for self-defense, his headmaster won't give him the light of day for no apparent reason, almost nobody believes him, etc.

I'd be constantly angry too.
I agree. There are so many things in the previous book and this book that can add to his anger problems, but, and it was even said in the book, the main reason for Harry's anger is his connection with Voldemort being strengthened. You don't hear about the anger in the Sixth book when Harry no longer shares that connection, nor will you hear about it later in the seventh book. The connection was so strong in this book that Harry felt what Voldemort was feeling all the time. Voldy's temper was always close to the edge and through that connection it was passed to Harry. It mentions that in the book as being a reason he has been on edge a lot, plus what I quoted, and that would make any one angry as he was. _________________
