And what drive-thru window, what are you on about?

Don't be so sure? Wow. Okay. I'm not sure that smoke upsets my allergies, you're completely right. I'm also not sure that it irritates me whether inside or out. It's only my body. You're right--I shouldn't be so decisive about it.

Sarcasm aside, I work at a fast food joint with a drive-thru. When someone smokes and thinks they're blowing it outside, they're just blowing it inside of our work. We're a non-smoking establishment, but they're still technically smoking outside while putting our health at risk.

Lol I meant about what does and doesn't 'cause cancer not what triggers your allergies.

And I agree with you, people shouldn't smoke, even if they're in a car, near or around others that don't want to smell it. It's a gas, it goes everywhere, even primary school kids learn that.

Saying that smoking is wrong because it's bad afor a person's health is probably extremely hippocritical. Everybody does things that are bad for his/her health. If you go tanning, that bad for your health. Eat fried foods? You're clogging your arteries! Do you use a microwave? Those radiation waves are bad for you. The fact that scmoking kills never really bothered me. Just about everything kills people.

Just so you don't keep embarrassing yourself, it is spelt hypocritical.

I could really careless. I always speel that one wrong, I don't know why . .

Wait. So you actually care? Or did you mean you could not care less? Because if you could care less is to say that you do, in fact, care.

Haha

^Your right they shouldn't ban it.

I hate smoking and if I ever get some kind of cancer from second hand smoke then Im going to whip the hell out of some damn smoker because I have never smoked because I try to be as healthy as I can. My Dad has been a driving force for me to stay away from things that are harmful for my body. He was diagnosed with diabetes when he was 6 and has never had a completely healthy life. I do what I can to honor him and the blessing God saw fit to give me when he blessed me with a healthy body.

Second hand smoke has been proven to cause cancer, though. And my apologies for misunderstanding you.

I would like to know which studies have proven this theory to be fact.

Yer, I always thought those studies didn't prove anything substantial.

I feel that it would be impossible to prove that second-hand smoke can cause cancer. Any studies that actually prove it would be unethical.

And how would they be unethical? It's not like we need to go shooting up random sterile patients with cigarette smoke and see what happens. We have plenty of second-hand smoke victims.

There are people who have smoked most of their lives who never had cancer. And there are those who have breathed plenty of second-hand smoke who also never had cancer.
Then there are those who never smoked or had constant direct second-hand smoke who did get cancer.
The only way to do a conclusive study is by doing an sctual scientific study... and those are usually done on animals. That's where the ethics question come in.

It is unethical, because the subjects would actually have to be exposed to a gas that is thought to be dangerous for long periods of time in a controlled environment in order to see if they are more likely to get deadly diseases than those subjects who are no exposed.

^ Yuppers, you learn that crap in primary school, its basic principles of any experiment. Controlled variables and what not.

so we should scour death row and find us some test subjects.

I didn't ignore it, it just doesn't tell me anything. It is a so-called fact sheet, but it doesn't explain how anybody came to these conclusions. It has no conclusive evidence that people are getting cancer from second-hand smoke as opposed to the massive amounts of black smoke that is billowing out of the local mill.

The thing is that people have been smoking for many millenia. Smoking goes very far back. There is something about smoking that just seems to attract people. It's not the media. The media wasn't around hundreds of years ago when just about every society was smoking something.

in the voodoo practice smoking is a way to honor a goddess.

if i remember correctly when a baby is born you sacrifice tobacco to the goddess and she will protect that baby. the tobacco of haiti is cigars.

I didn't ignore the 'fact sheet' either, I just agree wholeheartedly with Zen, you can find statistics to prove almost anything. The real proof is done in actual studies with controlled environments.

i think those people should also be the first in medical experiments. do something useful to society.
