I just thought I'd add real quick before I leave that now we know why Dumbledore's sister was messed up in the head.

She must have walked in on Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

We don't know if GW was gay, though. Do we?

I wonder if Grindelwald was gay... he could have been gay, but just not loved DD back. There are so many possibilities.

It sort of makes sense to me that he's gay, I can see it, but I would have liked to have known more about his relationship with Grindelwald..at least know whether or not Dumbledore was honest with him about it.
If she's going to tell us he's gay all of a sudden, I wish she'd elaborate -_-'
But then she might later on I suppose.. I hope so~

There have been times in the books where JKR has used her bully pulpeit for commentary on what is going on in the world. My favorite is Stan and his being put in Azcaban for no reason. She is a very tolerant person and believes in tolerance. Many of the themes of the book have been about tolerance.

It has been speculated that JKR is a catholic or at least a Ango Cath. I think she is a member of the Church of England and by making DD gay she is making another commentary on society.

First the fact that DD is gay has little to do with the story and little to do with the character. He does not act stereotypical. He is just normal and gay people are no different than anyone else.

Second His being gay is related to the story only in that his feelings for Grindy clouded his view of who Grindy realy was. It is another time where JKR points out the power of love and the risks of love.

The relationship of Grindy and DD is a commentary on the power of radicalism trying to control mainstream society. The radical gay Grindy trying to control the mainstream DD. Together they will make society change. They will bring wizard kind out of the closet (Statute of Secretcy) to control society (Muggle world). All 'For the Greater Good" As much as DD tries to maintain control of the relationship, the radical Grindy continues to expand the boundries. Finally Grindy goes too far and there is tragedy (DD's sister is killed). The radical element runs and is found blameless. The mainstream element is left holding the bag with regret and sadness. DD was both hurt and embarrassed by the relationship. Part of the reason he did not go after Grindy untill he had to.

That brings me to Rita's book. If DD was so gay, then why did she not write about it so prominently. The only reference to the possibility of DD being gay is the chapter about DD and Harry's relationship. Since Harry knew it was all lies, he did not read it and therefore we do not know what was in the chapter. If there was a hint that DD was gay, then Rita would have used it to discredit him. The Prophet never mentions the fact either.

DD was a closeted gay man . I think he was so closeted that he was a celebate gay man. There is not mention of a life partner. There is no mention of anyone sitting in a prominent position at his funeral. Would not his life partner or boyfriend be sitting up front. Even if he was not a known character, there would be a memtion of someone unknown sitting up front and how strange it was. JKR likes to leave hints, where was the hint. Not to be found. Facts are that the relationship was more of an infactuation and may not have been consimated.

My final point. Both the english and american anglican church has been destroyed by the issue of homosexuality. There is a great issue in both churches. JKR may be giving us a parable about the problems in the churches . And the solution is that Homosexuality is not the issue. Gay people are gay. It is whether, the gay people in prominent positions in the churches can remain celebate.

I feel JK is only doing it for a Nobel Prize, and maybe her piggy bank has gone down to a low few million, so publicity between movies will give her some pocket money.
