I'd like to see if we can make good trivia list for this book.
* It's the shortest Harry Potter book.
* Although most of the book is told from Harry's viewpoint, the first chapter is told first from Vernon's then Dumbledore's.
* Quirrel is one of the few major characters that only appears in one book.

How can you say Quirel is a major character?
You know about him and he is in the end. However in between he is just another teacher. He is not a major character. In the book he never under go a change... I say this because although he has changed the way the teachers remeber him he does not change while Harry is at Hogwarts. He has no real dialogue... For me he is quite forgetable.

How can he be forgettable??? I dont think he is a Major Character but i dont think he is a normal one either... He is in between lol

In the first book, Jk mentioned another train station besides 9 3/4. What was the other station number?

in a way, he is a main character to me. usually id remember the defence against the dark arts teachers in order :
quirell, lockhart, lupin, moody and so on... he is unforgettable to me!

I think Quirrel is a major character. I think any character J.K. is willing to name is important. they all play some role in harry's life.

I think he's an important character.... in book one.
Obviously he's not at all important in the final 6.
Although even in book one, he didn't speak much. He was in the beginning when Harry saw him in Diagon Alley, a few stares in the great hall, a few overlooks when Harry is spying on him and Snape, a little bit of a stint when Harry is in DADA class, and then the finally at the sorcerrer's stone. Overall, he really don't speak much, let alone to Harry.
His appearance in the ending warrants him a major character of Book 1, though. |

Quirrell is definately a mojor character. He doesn't have many lines, but he is still mentioned very often in the book. There is always a spotlight on the person who is DADA, which makes that person a major character.

Was he a major character in the series, or in book 1?
I say only book 1 - when I think of the series he doesn't immediately come to mind. |
