Who likes Shakespeare? I love Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.
Hamlet..
"To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them?"
"This above all: to thine own self be true"
Romeo and Juliet..
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."
"O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love"
But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.
Just some random quotes from Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.. if anyone else has quotes they like feel free to post them. _________________

Macbeth is my favorite... I LOVE Lady Macbeth...
Hamlet is great, too... especially Ophelia, she is such a great character. _________________

I haven't read those yet...but I'm pretty sure I will in my required shakespeare class (for my english major). usually when I know I'll have to read something for a class I can't make myself before then. _________________

This is my favorite Shakesperean work:
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun (Sonnet 130)
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white, why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks;
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go;
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare. _________________

haha, that sonnet as in My So-Called Life, my favorite show!
When my class went over that sonnet a few years later in high school, a couple of us got so excited! _________________

There are a bunch of movies based off of his work...
She's the Man is the Twelth Night
10 Things I Hate About You is the Taming of the Shrew
O is Othello
And Hermione was named after a character from "The Winter's Tale" _________________

Romeo and Juliet was actually one of my least favorite Shakespeare stories. Have you read any of the others? _________________

Love Shakespeare!
My current favourite quote, from Twelfth Night:
| Quote: |
What is love? 'tis not hereafter;
Present mirth hath present laughter;
What's to come is still unsure:
In delay there lies no plenty;
Then come kiss me, sweet and twenty,
Youth's a stuff will not endure. |

I've read Romeo and Juliet and I liked it a lot. I've also seen a Midsummer Nights Dream and loved it. I thought it was really good. _________________

I've read Romeo and Juliet and Taming of the Shrew and many sonnets. I really like Shakespeare. Taming of the Shrew was my favorite of the two. I have decided that I have to play Kate in Taming of the Shrew onstage before I die. [/i] _________________

i like the comedies more than the tragedies.
i liked a midsummer night's dream, as you like it, much ado about nothing, the tempest... although i also like hamlet and macbeth (which have similar plots... hehe... usurping thrones... why do i find that interesting?) romeo and juliet is ok... although the theme of the story is very much real, as compared to hamlet and macbeth. there are still so many modern romeo and juliet stories out there.. that makes it truly timeless. _________________

When I first saw the movie I was so excited, I went around for weeks singing it... and effectively annoyed everyone around me. _________________

i suppose i sounded annoying as well. the pitch of the song is kinda high so you have to have a good voice so | |
