Surprisingly, I've read the books but have only seen Fellowship of the Ring. That wasn't even the long version.

I've never read them, but I have seen the movies. I plan on it soon, probably next summer. they seem like they would be really good.

ok, so the lord of the rings are better than the hobbit? good, cuz i read the hobbit and kid you not, it took me about a year. and books usuallly take me a week at the most. so i have been reluctant to read the lord of the rings, cuz i own them, but i have been worried that they would be as boring as the hobbit Sad

I love LOTR! Actually, I've only seen the films, but my mom has read the books, and if there's something different about the movies, she'll point it out, and she didn't do much of that, so I figure the films were pretty acurate.

I'm in the process of reading the books. I find the beginning of FOTR a little dry, so I'm trying to read that right now....I'll get through them eventually, surely they pick up after a while...Wink

My husband has read all 4 books. He said the 'Council of Elrond' chapter is the longest ever because it includes all that you see in the prologue in the Fellowship movie.

I read the Hobbit years and years ago. Someday I'll read the LOTR trilogy.

For me Harry Potter does not even come close to be as good as The Lord of the Rings, but I get what you mean.

I think I'm going to reread them soon. Just so I can see how the story line is different than the movie. I like to do that. Cuz I've only seen the first movie, but will see the others like this weekend cuz my boyfriend is letting me watch them, with him there of course.

im in love with the movies. if im bored im just like "lets watch lord of the rings" and then i do... Very Happy

but ive only just read the 1st book. and now i really want to read the 2nd.

i was suprised at how similar the movie was to the book. obviously there are differences and bits cut out. but the majority of it, was how it was in the book.
