Okay, did anyone notice in the 6th book, when Slughorn goes to Aragog's funeral, he's talking to Hagrid about ron or something and once he calls ron "Rupert." So, is this just something Rowling put in her book to see if readers notice?

| The reason it is in there is because J.K. is showing how Slughorn picks favorites and ron really isn't one. Also that Slughorn doesn't think Ron is important enough to learn his real name because he is not connected to anyone with alot of influence. |

While it's true that Slughorn was drunk at the time, I think it was Jo's excuse to give Rupert a little credit.
Am I the only one who notices that Dan and Emma get all the publicity?

Ruperts a much better actor than Emma/Dan.
Not as good as Draco, but I'm hugely biased.
Draco for Prime Minister... He's got my vote!!

Tom Felton is pretty good, I must agree.
As a drama major, I know acting, and Rupert is really good!! It annoys me so much that Dan and Emma get all of the publicity!! Like once when they announced new action figures for OOTP and I was looking at the pictures, there were like 7 for Dan and 5 for Emma, but, oh look, only 1 for Rupert.
It's horrible!

He has also gotten Ron's name wrong when he wasn't drunk. i think so at least. My 6th book was destroyed so i can't read it.

In your opinion is Tom or Rupert the better actor?
I love both. Tom is beautiful... (sorry about that relapse), and Rupert has amazing facial expressions, he doesn't need to speak.

hmmmm....i'd have to say rupert.

Rupert is more truthful in his acting, which is the method I study.

Could you imagine Tom Felton playing Harry Potter? I'd have loved that!!
He was considered for both. I can't help think that he'd make a blinding Harry Potter, sorry about the Equus play joke there!!

i almost peed myself laughing.
anyway...back on topic (but who even stays on topic anyway?) (lol)
I just really cannot picture Tom Felton as Harry Potter. He's just so good at being the bad guy.
Though I wouldn't have minded Tom in the GoF bathroom scene...

Ooh I have to join in whenever there's Draco or Tom loving. I think he's an extraordinary actor and should get more credit for what he does. I especially loved him in the second movie because every scene with him was perfect.
Although I hate how he's now being used as comic relief rather than a character with substance. He's so vital in the books and they're making him look like a fool in the movies. Furthermore, they're wasting all Tom's talent on cheesy "Harry Potter HATE HATE HATE" scenes without any other real meaning. Bring back the Draco love! |

As multiple people have said before, the reason he called Ron "Rupert" was due to the fact that he was not part of the "Slug Club". (The "Slug Club" was a group of people who he found interesting and important.)
As Ron was not in this group, he found no importance in him and, in my opinion, didn't know he existed until the day of his poisoning. |

jk is building slughorn's character. slughorn does not give any importance to people who he thinks will not be big in the future, like ron. but he would definitely pay attention to hermione's name, even if it is harder to remember coz hermy has a bright future, being the smartest student.
although i cant help but think if jk was thinking of rupert grint when she wrote that name. |
