We learn in HBP about Hebzibah Smith and her treasures. Especially the Hufflepuff cup, she described it as her finest treasure and also mentions she is a descendant of Helge Hufflepuff.
I was thinking there is another Smith in HP, Zacharius Smith who also happens to be in Hufflepuff. Could he be a relative of Hebzibah and another Hufflepuff descendant?
Im probably way off here but there seems to be a pattern of discovering descendants of the four founders of Hogwarts.
We know LV is the last descendant of Slytherin, Im convinced Harry is Godric Gryffindors heir, perhaps Zacharius is Hufflepuffs heir or descendant and maybe we will meet Ravenclaws heir/descendant in book 7.
If so then i think Harry could possibly get infomation about the cup and its disapearance from Zacharius and if he works out two of the horcruxes were founders heirlooms then surely it means that two of the other horcruxes are Gryffindors and Ravenclaws treasures?
Also perhaps the 3 heirs could help flatten LV together, I know its far fetched but I definatley think that there are four horcruxes that belonged to the founders, it just makes sense to me.
I think it seems quite plausible that Smith is a decendant of Hufflepuff. ( I mean if Slytherin has an heir why not Helga?) What I wonder about is that if being a decendant of someone that important gives them "special powers". Maybe if Smith is indeed the heir of hufflepuff we dont see them as "powerful and special" because of the house he's in? (I think thats a crappy explanation from my part IMAO)
Maybe it could be coincidence and JK wont touch that point at all in the next book. ( I remember once that I was reading that JK wrote a character named Evans and people started thinking it was from Lily's family but she flat out rejected the idea)
It would be fun to discover the descendants of the founders but I think they should be people who excel excellently in hogwarts and the wizarding world(but we havent heard anything like that from people from the other houses)
Im sure Harry will discover more secrets about the founders in his horcruxes search so maybe at the end the heirs will make slytherin leave (not hogwarts this time but hehe the wizarding world) forever. _________________
Maybe the only importance of the founders in the next book is that four horcruxes belong to them, if he works that out he will be somewhere near.
Personally I dont like Zacharius' character and I find him haughty(i suppose Hebzibah could be described the same way), so he would be a let down as a heir in my mind.
I agree LOL. Zach would'nt be a good heir. If it were someone else maybe but he doesnt seem heir-like.(I mean even if you compare him to Hermione who isnt an heir he just.... ) _________________
I was thinking maybe Zach is not an heir but I still think he is related to Hebzibah.
Remember when Hebzibah tells Tom that "my family cant wait to get there hands on these" ?
Well maybe at some point later on the cup was found and returned to the Smith family with them not knowing it contained a horcrux, this is where Zacharius comes in, Harry could find out about the cup from Zacharius and thats how he finds the cup????? It could be possible you never know
I agree. Zach can be a descendant ( I mean there has to be at least one). If Zach has the cup it would be easier for Harry. Yeah I agree, it's quite possible...with JK you just never know:( _________________

I think that this is hightly unlikely, afterall, Lord V would be losing his touch if he left his hocruxes lying around unprotected. _________________ "WAR IS PEACE
