| Remember Dunbeldore says there are worse things than death and physical pain and that is what Voldemort doesn't understand. Dumbeldore might want the ultimate punishment for Voldemort, and death would be the quick way out. Maybe he wants Voldemort captured alive because only Voldemort knows the identity of all the Death Eaters. |

Harry, being ‘the one’, has the power to ‘vanquish’ the Dark Lord. Vanquish is a term meaning ‘to defeat or conquer in battle’.
It would not be too presumptuous therefore, if we were to assume that there will be an end ‘battle’, in which one of either Harry or Voldemort will be victorious.
The term ‘vanquish’ however does not necessarily mean kill. It can also mean ‘to overcome and subdue’.
Vanquished guys, has a typical JKR meaning, ie you're ASSUMING it means kill, but not necessarily.
*** this is my lifes ambition, to get you all quoting Vanquished, Vanquished, not killed***

not only that but the only time voldemort had a time to strike and kill voldemort was when he was weak and fused in harrys body. but in order to kill voldemort at the time he would have to kill harry. it wouldn't have proved nothing at the time anyway because hes still got other souls out there.

| well i think thats right, after all, i remember that encounter of dumbledore and voldemort at the ministry. . i mean if i were dumbledore, i could have done it, i mean kiliing voldemort! but he just let opportunities passed by, coz he knew that its for the chosen one! |

AND...he would have killed Harry if voldemort were to be killed.

The only time Dumbeldore had the chance to kill Voldemort in the ministry was when he was fused with harry. So there fore Harry's life would have been taken and the prophecy's would have been finished then. Voldemort would have been victorious because he has 6 other soul bits out there.

ugh, I think dumbledore didn't kill him cause he knew he couldn't. spolier horecruxes he made 6 as we found out in the 6th book.
