In CoS, when Harry is in Tom Riddle's diary (snickers at him for having a diary). Anyway, it is revealed that Dumbledore is NOT the headmaster at this time, so if I'm not mistaken, what is it that he taught? I'm very interested in this question now that I thought about it.

Transfiguration. Tom Riddle says it later on in the Chamber, about how the transfiguration professor never trusted him.

Hmm. I think Dumbledore would have been a much better DADA teacher, but I guess he taught Transfiguration for a reason.

I'm sure though, that Dumbledore was much more qualified.

Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if he was the Herbology teacher, it seems like that man knows everything about anything.

Maybe DD didn't want to teach DADA. Maybe he wanted to be as far away from it as possible, especially after what happened to Arianna.
