I was just wondering about fighting the troll in chapter "Halloween".
Harry and Ron are heading toward the girls' bathroom, they knew Hermione was in there crying. But why didn't they recognize the bathroom entrance? They locked the door, the troll just entered and not until Hermione's screams Harry and Ron realize it was the girls' bathroom. That's a bit weird isn't it?

I think they just got distracted from their original mission by the appearance of the troll.

OK, but they actually locked the door of the girls' bathroom (which they are familiar with), they're bound to notice that they just locked Hermione in.
Even if they were distracted by the troll, Harry and Ron should realize that the troll went through the entrance/door of that bathroom.

Why would the recognize the girl's bathroom entrance anyways?

Ducking down, they joined the Hufflepuffs going the other way, slipped down a deserted side corridor, and hurried off toward the girls’ bathroom.

They heard about Hermione being in the girls' bathroom and headed straight for it. So obviously they knew were to go.

Right... but then when they saw the troll, they were distracted. They locked it in the first door they could. Then they realized it was the girl's bathroom and they remembered their original mission.
