Amercian Version is the Sorcerers Stone, British versiono is Philosophers Stone.

No difference (except the use of some words) and infact the only reason it's different in name is because there's allready a book called "The Philosophers Stone"

I was wondering why everybody was calling it Philospher's Stone. Are most of the people on this forum from the UK?

Mm I'm from Australia and we call it tPS.
I heard that JKR really regrets letting them change the name and she only did it 'cause it was her first book and didn't know how big it was gonna get.

Ok seriously, sorccer's stone sooooooo much better, no offense. I can't believ JKR would cave in, let alone to her own country, thats just wrong!

What are you on about? It was always called the Philosophers Stone, it was changed to the Sorcerer's Stone just for the American public because it would confuse them too much (lol), a lot of people complained because it's insulting to Americans. It really is quite silly, though. I mean, the 'Philosopher's stone' wasn't invented by JKR, she just used it in the book and to rename it just makes no logical sense. It's like changing the title 'Chamber of Secrets' to 'Cupboard of Secrets', sure people will know what a cupboard is but that doesn't change the fact that it's not about a cupboard it's about a chamber. Same goes for PS vs. SS.

I thought they changed the name because us stupid americans were going to get confused by calling it Philosopher's stone. But, Whatever I already read both editions and it really wasn't all that different. Just a few words.

I'm curious how Philosopher's Stone is insulting to Americans.

I was told they changed the name, though, because "Sorceror" is more child-friendly than "Philosopher."
