ok i am confused, in HBP it said that harry looked in the front of the advanced potion making cover and it said that the creator wrote it over fifty years ago and none of Harry's parents or their friends were at Hogwarts then. In the chamber of secrets Ron and Harry used the polyjuice potion and went in the Slytherin common room with Malfoy. Ron and harry were trying to find out if Malfoy was the Heir of Syltherin. Malfoy told them he knew nothing about it only that it was opened fifty years ago.if tom riddle opened it fifty years ago wouldn't it make sense that Voldemort was the half blood prince? it couldn't be Snape right? _________________ "For the greater good."
You forget his mother owned the book -_-! _________________

Hmm.... that would've been interesting if Voldy was the HBP. But I never got the HBP subplot, anyhow. Eh, probably because I never looked deep enough into it.
I think we were meant to, with the book being 50 years old. But it was a red herring. Though when you find out who it really was its like "why didn't I think of that?" I mean..potions...but then again the book was 50 years old and you don't really think to yourself 'well it could have been his mothers' _________________ They say home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. --Captain Hammer

yuppp... In hindsight is seems so obvious. But she planted so many red herrings and false clues and hidden secrets that you were never led to think for a second that it could possibly be Snape. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate. ~ Bob Dylan

exactly... which is why i enjoy JKR's writing so much _________________ "After all this time?"
"Always," said Snape.
and then when you find out its snapes, i kinda tought el theres not reallymuch point of it all then, if you get what i mean, it didnt reallyhave any affect on the story
I love how he gets hella mad at Harry trying to use his spell on him, it really shows Snape's hatred for James 'cause he once turned Snape's spell on him too. _________________
I thought the spells that where in the potions book were definately
Snape's because when Harry uses one of the spells against Snape at the
end of the book Snape clearly says that it is his own spell.
However, more than one person could have owned the book, so it doesn't mean that
Snape is the Half Blood Prince.
Besides, he's pure blood isn't he?
Maybe Hermione is right and it was a female. Maybe Lily. _________________

Did you even read the book? Pg 563 HBP Snape says:
'You dare use my own spells against me Potter? It was I who invented them - I, the Half-Blood Prince! And you'd turn my inventions on me, like your filthy father, would you? ..' _________________
The book was his Mom's that is why there is girly handwriting in the book. Not all of the directions/spells were Snapes. The book was given to Snape by his own Mom and he followed the potions directions as Harry did. He created a few spells and maybe perfected a few potions and put his own hand to the book as his mother did. He gave himself the name HBP in honor of his mother's maiden name. He hated his muggle father. _________________ Amor Vincit Omnia!
His mother originally owned the book fifty years ago during the period when the Chamber of Secrets was opened. By the time she had Snape, he began to use her potion book and make up spells and dub himself the half-blood prince. The name is a given from his dad being half-blood, and his mother's last name was Prince... _________________

yeah. it actually makes more sense to me if it was voldie... hbp tells us of voldie's story... not snape's... and voldie is a halffie... and he's practically a prince, being the heir of slythie... _________________
