I think the wand order mistake has been corrected in the 2nd editions onward. but if you have a first edition, the mistake is in it. Mine has it, it'll probably be worth quite a bit eventually. _________________

umm... i think you should check the book again unless they changed the book because in my book james came out AFTER lily |
The book was changed in the newer editions to correct this mistake.
In order of murders that were performed by Voldemort's wand in order of oldest to most recent...
James
Lily
Bertha Jorkins
Frank Bryce
Cedric Diggory
When the wands dueled each other, Voldemort's wand started regurgitating it's previous spells, including the Killing Curses. ut popped Cedric, followed by Frank, then nosy Bertha, then James... wait what? Yep, in the original books James emerges from the wand before Lily, which led to crazy speculating. This problem was rectified in the newer editions. Lily now emerges first and asks Harry to wait for his father. They instruct Harry to break away and run to the portkey (the tri-wizard cup). Had Harry held on longer more echoes of dead people probably would have spewed out out of Voldemort's wand.
From JKR's official site:
Section: F.A.Q.
At the end of 'Goblet of Fire', in which order should Harry's parents have come out of the wand?
Lily first, then James. That’s how it appears in my original manuscript but we were under enormous pressure to edit it very fast and my American editor thought that was the wrong way around, and he is so good at catching small errors I changed it without thinking, then realised it had been right in the first place. We were all very sleep-deprived at the time. _________________

| When Harry's writing to Sirius about the pain in his scar, it says he was "marveling at the fact that he hadn't thought of Sirius straight away. But then, perhaps it wasn't so surprising -- after all, he had only found out that Sirius was his godfather two months ago." Harry found out Sirius was his godfather about eight months before, on the day in the Three Broomsticks with Ron and Hermione. |

yeah but wen harry found out bout sirius at the 3 broomsticks the situation was different. it was as good as him not being his godfather cos at tht time harry thought tht sirius had betrayed his parents to voldemort. but later things got cleared and harry could really look at sirius as a godfather... |

Because it takes time for the death to sink in....

Section: F.A.Q.
(SPOILER WARNING)
Why could Harry see the Thestrals 'Order of the Phoenix'? Shouldn't he have been able to see them much earlier, because he saw his parents/Quirrell/Cedric die?
I’ve been asked this a lot. Harry didn’t see his parents die. He was in his cot at the time (he was just over a year old) and, as I say in ‘Philosopher’s Stone’, all he saw was a flash of green light. He didn’t see Quirrell’s death, either. Harry had passed out before Quirrell died and was only told about it by Dumbledore in the last chapter.
He did, however, witness the murder of Cedric, and it is this that makes him able to see the Thestrals at last. Why couldn’t he see the Thestrals on his trip back to the train station? Well, I didn’t want to start a new mystery, which would not be resolved for a long time, at the very end of the fourth book. I decided, therefore, that until Harry is over the first shock, and really feels what death means (ie, when he fully appreciates that Cedric is gone forever and that he can never come back, which takes time, whatever age you are) he would not be able to see the Thestrals. After two months away from school during which he has dwelled endlessly on his memories of the murder and had nightmares about it, the Thestrals have taken shape and form and he can see them quite clearly.

| Why has nobody mentioned the one major flaw in this book: Crouch Jr.'s unnecessarily elaborate plan? He was alone with Harry countless times throughout the school year, and he was constantly in contact with Wormtail and Voldemort. So why would he go through all the trouble of helping Harry through the entire Tournament? Why did he not just call him to his office one day (after telling Wormtail to be at the graveyard) and turn an everyday object, such as a quill, into a Portkey? Why was it not possible for him to get Harry to hand him that quill one day when he had him alone in the office? Harry could have been transported to the graveyard at any point in the year, so helping him through the Tournament is a serious plothole. |

This has been discussed before. Voldemort wanted Harry for himself, so Crouch only wanted to deliver Harry to him. When Voldemort failed to kill him (Crough knew this because Harry returned alive yellnng about Voldemort being back) he then tried to kill Harry himself. But DD and company stopped him in the nick of time.
You have to get permission to turn something into a portkey. My theory is, the Cup was to be turned into a portkey to bring the winner back to the outside of the maze. Crouch Jr, who we knwo was the one who brought the cup into the middle of the maze, modified the cup so it would bring Harry to the graveyard, instead of the outside of the maze. Crouch knew his plan failed when, as I said, Harry came back alive.
Crouch helped him through the maze to get to a portkey that would make the whole thing look like a horrible accident. Voldemort wasn't ready to let anyone know he was back, so making it look like anything but an accident took time and patience. _________________

More spells did come out, actually. The screaming -- which was a shadow of the Crucios, and Wormtails hand. _________________ "I can make things move without touching them. I can make bad things happen to people who are mean to me." -- Tom Riddle (HBP movie).

| There are two different versions of book 4. I'm suprised that nobody noticed. In one version James comes out of Voldemort's wand first. In the other Lily comes out first and it says that Harry has been thinking about her the entire time even though he was thinking about his father. |

Harry said he had never seen Charlie before, but in Prisoner Of Azkaban he had looked at the newspaper clipping of the family in Egypt, and Charlie was in the picture. It stated, “six sons and one daughter ... all with flaming red hair.” (Chapter 5, “Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes”) |
perhaps jk meant he had never sen charlie personally. and when he saw the newspaper clipping he didnt know which of the two was charlie or bill. or perhaps charlie was not there with the weasleys in egypt, but busy with dragons in romania. in that case the mistake was in book3 because it said all seven weasleys. |
Yeah thats what I was thinking. And I think in the photo harry paid more attention to ron ginny and their parents. And wasn't it bill that was in egypt, not charlie? Or did they all go? I cant remember.. lol _________________ ../|\

They changed the stool, it's not like it has a name like the Stool of Sorting or something. _________________ http://www.hpxp.co.nr/ - Looking for more members! |

That's a good question, but I'm sure he would've worn a watch that was magically powered. _________________

well it might not be there was a lot of stuff in Dudly's second room there could easily be a watch or two in there and it seems rather silly that watch wouldn't have a water repelling charm on it or that the magic that moved the watch would be damaged by water |
