i agree with all those suporting H/G. If the whole H/Hr thing worked out, what about Ron! Who would he end up with?! Lavender or Luna?! I think JKR did everything really well. _________________ Harry Potter is my life; my reason for living.
I have to agree with some of you though, I would have been disappointed if Harry and Ginny didn't wind up together, but as long as he wasn't with Cho in the end I wouldn't have been really upset. And also yea, Ron and Hermione are definetly the main realtionship in the series in my opinion, I mean she's been leading up to it since the 1st book. _________________

I didn't like Cho much either... but she has been through alot imagine having your boyfriend die! I think she only used Harry to talk about Cedric tho...
I'm sorry but I really, really, REALLY dislike Ginny. She seems so arrogant to me. There is no problem being confident, but she is so overly confident because she is "the prettiest girl in her year". I would've liked Harry to be with someone not so pretty. I mean there was Cho and Ginny, both supposedly pretty girls in the books. I agree with the author of the post... I don't like Ginny for Harry at all. Though it may seem weird, I like Harry and Luna. Luna is pretty, but not incredibly so. She's brave and smart and can relate to Harry in terms of death in the family ( of course no Ginny can too because of Fred...) and she's unique, not like every other girl out there. _________________

I find it really interesting that everyone cares so much about finding out exactly how JKR planned everything and all the details of things and then when she makes it clear about who ends up with who and that they last everyone begins questioning her reasoning just because they wish it had turned out another way. _________________

I really liked the idea of Harry and Luna too, but also Neville n Luna is cute too :p I think maybe Harry would have become annoyed with luna if he was around her everyday lol.
I love harry n Ginny and I love Ron and Hermione, perfect i reckon.
Harry and Hermione woulda been weird, they are best friends. Imagine dating your best friend, it would be sooo wrong, i cant imagine dating any of my best guy friends. _________________ Voldemort voldemort ooo voldey voldey voldey-mort

I always felt that Ron and Hermione were actually closer friends than Harry and Hermione. There are ALOT of Ron and Hermione moments that we do not see, when Harry is at the Dursleys, off with Dumbledore, in detention, at quidditch practice, etc. etc. etc. They have horrific fights because of their mutually unrequited attraction, but they usually forgive each other very quickly. I also got the impression that whenever they had these really bad fights and would all of a sudden be back to best buds that we didn't get to see some conversations that they had, because they didn't happen in front of Harry. Of course, its open to alot of interpretation because of the way the story is told from Harry's perspective and all of the missing Ron/Hermione scenes. _________________

i agree with one part, that harry and hermione arent that good together. i mean, it would be terribly cliche too... that the main character likes the main girl character. i am a huge ron/ hermione shipper. still though.... i would think harry would get annoyed of ginny. she seems sooo stubborn to me! _________________

I dont think Hermione knows what in the world she is talking about...the title sais harry and ginny...i clicked on this forum to read peoples thoughts on harry and ginnys love life....but unlike the title Hermione isnt talking about love....shes talking about how ginny hates fleur...i dont understand how ginny and fleur fighting is going to bring together harry and ginny...the title of this forum is completley irelevant to the actual conversation...
I actually think it was quite relevant. The OP analysed it very well and justified her opinions using facts from the books, showing why she didn't think Ginny was portrayed as "ideal".
I haven't seen G/H shippers go into that much detail!! (ok I bet there's a million threads that have done) but still I agree with Hermione, I think she's perfectly demonstrated the rubbish character development!! I agree that she is a teenager etc. but JK isn't doing her any favours showing in this light. It certainly doesn't make the reader see why Harry would want to get it together with her!
For me the whole "I love Ginny thing" and the "roaring beast thing inside him" came out of nowhere. I'm not one to judge but as a piece of literature, the romance did nothing for me. Maybe it's because I've read too many romance novels / seen too many hollywood movies/ watch home and way too much... but it could have been way more built up! It didn't satisfy me at all. If any great intellectual out there ever has the chance to analyse the relationship throughut the series please enlighten us. I would really like a lecture on it!

I totally agree!! Everyone is way too harsh on Cho - her boyfriend just mysteriously died!!
I'm sorry really sorry aswell because I don't like Ginny. She just seems overbearing and controlling. Why is Fleur annoying? I've never found her so therefore the only possible conclusion for me to draw was that she was jealous and insecure as Hermione (the op) said.
What does Harry see in Ginny apart from looks?????? Why couldn't he go out with someone weird, quirky and intelligent...Hermione's intelligent!! I think the books would've given out a better message in the end if it was something like Harry and Hermione (or luna) and that would have been anything but cliché since it would show the good looking heroic guy doesn't always choose the good looking girl but the girl with more substance.
Anyway, unless you can find the sound foundations for H/G relationship and the logic behind it, Slughorn and Ginny so came up with a plan to ensare Harry! _________________

i didnt think fleur was bad either! in fact, she turned out to be very sweet. she really DID love bill. maybe fleur is strong and a little stubborn, which got ginny mad. or, like mentioned above, she was jealous and insecure.
honestly, the buildup wasnt good at all. we see ginny for one chapter in the first book, then in the 2nd ginny likes harry.... then theres this big gap in the 3rd and 4th books. in the 5th harry likes cho and never thinks twice about ginny. in the middle of the 6th, harry finally starts to like ginny and they go out.
i think jk rowling was planning h/g for a long time. ever since the 2nd book so she just shoved ginny in the series near the end. the whole relationship seemed pretty rushed to me. _________________

I think the reason why Ginny was off to the side was because... well, she doesn't really become friends with Hermione until GoF when they had to share a room and tent together. And she was asn't in the same grade as the trio or even on the quidditch team with Harry, like Fred and Geroge were. So why would she be mentioned a lot? Ginny was off with kids from her own grade doing her own thing. It makes sense she wouldn't be mentioned for those books. It's not until she becomes comfortable enough to talk to Harry in OotP that she appears more and more. And then when she joins the Quidditch team, Harry sees her more, therefore we see her more.
I think the buildup for them was different from that of Ron and Hermone's and shouldn't be compared as if they were. _________________ ^made by Fiendfyre

im not comparing it to ron/hermione. there could've been a better buildup, even if it just occurs in the last 2 or 3 books.
yes, it does make sense she'd be with kids her own year doing her own thing but if she turned out to be such an important character why couldnt she be mentioned a little more? i mean it did sorta shock me a little that out of nowhere ginny becomes this big charachter in harry's love life in chapter 6. i had been going for luna then ginny shows up out of nowhere really. i saw no romantic linking in the 1st-5th book with harry and ginny, where'd it come from??
I like that there wasn't a build up to like Hermione and Ron's otherwise it would have been like Hermionea and Ron's. That's why I like that there was no gradual build-up. In a way there was, it was just more subtle. There was no way to mention her more than JKR did, for reasons I stated above.
In CoS Ginny is hardly mentioned and it turns out that her part in the whole book was very pivotal. So just because a character isn't mentioned often doesn't make her any less inmportant. It was only, for like, two books she was hardly mentioned. And again, it was for reasons I stated above. It wasn't like she popped in out of nowhere in HBP, Harry just ended up spending more time with her at the Burrow because there was less cleaning and more time for playing. And at school because of quidditch and Hermione. So if it seem like she came out of nowhere, she didn't, it's just that Harry saw her more often and we see mostly what Harry sees. _________________ ^made by Fiendfyre
Love is mistery, the ron and hermoine thing seemed to happen more cuz they are in-fact best friends with harry, sometimes best friends fall in love, and Ginny was beign herself out there and when her and harry got to spend time together they fell in love almost instantly. I love the way she did everything cuz real life is like that you can't help who you fall in love with.
