why was snape trying to get past fluffy? i know hes evil and all, but i didnt think his goal was to ever get the philosophers stone.
also, did anyone else notice that when harry went to snape to get his book back and saw snapes leg, that snape was telling filch all about fluffy? what side does this make filch on?

I dont really think Filch plays a role in the whole good/bad idea...and it's been so long since I read the 1st book I'm not quite sure about Snape and Fluffy Confused

maybe it was to show quirril that there was a 'race' going on between him and snape, but he was taken out, so that quirril had all the time in the world to get pass fluffy.

Remember, Snape is an expert at reading minds and he probably read Quirrel's and he was just thwarting him before he got to the stone.

Yeah. Because, though Snape seems to switch between bad and good, in this case, He is helping Dumbledore by protecting the Stone. At least, that's what I think. I suppose, he could have been going for it for LV, but I don't know...

Snape wasn't going for the Stone. He was trying to stop Quirrel, remember?

For me!

The stone just aided with long-life, right? Could it have done anything else? For instance prevent a curse from killing oneself?

If not, I said nothing!

The Stone didn't make u invincible, it just extended ur life span as long as u kept drinking it. Remember, DD said Nicolas would die since the Stone was destroyed. So, no, I don't think it would have prevented the AK from killing someone.

Interesting insight. I wonder what does Snape really wants, apart from a quiet life Very Happy

I think he wants to be loved Very Happy (I know it sounds weird)
Everyone he knows/knew was always fighting/argueing/hating/killing...
His parents fought, he is caught in a battle between Voldemort and (almost) everyone else...

(He just wants a wife who loves him and some mini-snapes Very Happy)

I know, I can't believe Snape doesn't have a girlfriend. He's like our own superhero.

I DO wonder about why Narcissa went to his house in HBP.
1. How did she know where it was?
2. It was dark, but she travelled without a map, so it implies she's been there many times before
3. Why did Snape make the Unbreakable Vow... was it really because of how he feels for Narcissa?

Narcissa may have married Lucius, but I think Snape could have deep feelings for her still (enough to risk his life for Draco).
What do you think?
