There were numeros numerous things that were either left out or changed in the movie which a reader of the series I dislike. THe scene when they were flying through London was like 5mins long they could've fit many more specific things instead of a pointless broom ride. There were many other pointless scenes that they could've replaced or just cut out....but I guess as a movie thgey have to entertain but still,....

GIVE ME YOUR OPIONIN.

Yeah, that flying scene...I was actually looking forward to Lupin being in the beginning, but they cut him out. I don't like that he and Tonks were rarely in it. Tonks' introduction was rather rushed as well. And as for Sirius' death--ummm, hello? Couldn't have made it a little more dramatic?! I mean, personally, it seemed to me that one second Harry was sad about Sirius, and the next he just didn't care. They should have played that up a bit more.

OotP was the longest book. It was what? 950 pages? They had to cut so much. 0 quidditch. Snape only had 1 lesson with harry in the movie, in the book it went on for weeks if not months. I even thought the characters talked fast to save time. It's just too hard to make a reasonable-lenght movie and still develope the characters like a book does.

I think anyone who hadn't read the books would have really struggled watching it, I kept having to work out where the storyline was.. like what happened in the book between scenes. And I totally nearly missed Tonks coming in.. if it wasn't for the hair I would've missed her intro.

Still the movie was brilliantly casted.. I loved Luna and Bellatrix.

I agree about the mood changing too much around Sirius' death.. Crying I'd start crying then stop then get reminded of what happened then it was forgotten then mentioned again lol.

I've been trying to work out what things they're going to have to waste time explaining in HBP because they were cut from OotP.
Can anyone think of some?

Oh and hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. Very Happy

I think the flying scene was a little lame too, but was added in there for action and to appease those who keep whining about Quidditch not being a part of it. I didn't understand how they flew so close to the boats when in the book it's such a huge deal that they have to stay high and in the clouds to avoid being seen.

There were a lot of parts that didn't stay true to the book but instead were included to make the movie more engaging and action packed. It's understandable.

Hollywood doesn't need to get a clue. Why would they change what they're doing if they're making millions off the movies?

I still can't believe that they didn't put in the whole "Weasley is Our King!" scene as well as the part where Harry gets dumped by Cho on Valentines' Day. I'm sorry to say but I wanted to see that prat get kicked off his high horse >.>

(That whole 5 minute broom scene was pointless, really)

I agree with the flying scene being too long. They could have included a lot more instead of just showing them flying around.

I wish they could've elaborated on Tonks and Kingsley. A non-book reader would be thinking "Who are they?"
