PLEASE READ BEFORE VOTING!!!

This poll is slightly different than most 'which house' votes, because I dont want to see which house you would like to be in...I want to see which house you actually belong in.

I've tried to list below the character traits that each founder wanted in their house, please read them carefully and decide honestly which house the sorting hat would put you in.

Try not to put yourself in Gryffindor or Slytherin just because their the 'cool' houses, otherwise it spoils the fun for everyone else.

Please leave a comment as to which house you picked..and why...

Year One
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuff's are true
And unafraid of toil
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you've a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind
Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends

Year Four
By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest
Would always be the best;
For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin,
Loved those of great ambition;

I picked Gryffindor. That's what I was placed in, in a couple of forums. Very Happy

I put Ravenclaw, partly because in my own school I'm placed in 'higher level' classes and whatnot, but also because I don't fit into any of the other ones. I'm not brave enough for Gryffindor, not loyal enough for Hufflepuff, and not cruel enough for Slytherin (not /quite/ cruel enough, but Slytherin would definitely be my second choice).

I feel bad for whoever ends up in Hufflepuff. It seems like that's where they stick everyone who isn't remarkable in any way. I don't see how you can say that Gryff is a combo of the others, heng. Gryff is for the brave and courageous. The people who always stand up for what they believe in. Smile I'm curious to hear your reasoning.

Maybe because you have to be ambitious, and clever to stand up for what you believe in?

I dont believe Gryffindor is a mix of the other 3 houses. They all have different qualities. But what I think is that you can be clever( like hermione) and be in Gryffindor, you can have courage and be in Slytherin ( I mean being a DeathEater isnt easy, you need guts)...I just think the houses system divides the underlying foundation of the being, and what their goal in life is. Gryffindor to prove themselves and fight for what is right, and Slytherin for power, and control and sucess.

The website put me in Gryff. but i don't think it asked the rite questions. I'm a mix of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, cuz im a little smart but not brilliant and i'm loyal but not that hardworking. Oh well...

I'd love to be a Gryffindor, but I voted Ravenclaw because that would be more likely.

Wow, I have to say I strongly disagree. Look at Frodo (here I go, bringing LotR into this..); he's courageous.. but not very wise or clever. He's also a simple-folk. Not very ambitious, just an ordinary halfling, but he goes on this journey, why? Because he is courageous and brave. Like Gryffindors. Courage has nothing to do with being ambitious and/or clever.

Smile

I think that I would belong in Ravenclaw...but I could also be in Gryffindor as well...I wish there really was a hat that could tell you what you are really like. A lot of people just say that they are a Gryffindor because thats what Harry was...

I think I'd be Griffindor, I'm pretty smart and I have lots of courage.
Remember, Courage isn't the abscence of fear, just the knowledge of knowing when it is important to act.

I've been put in the two most different houses on many different sites: Hufflepuff, and Slytherin. bit of a difference, huh?

Hufflepuff, because I have been told that I am: just and loyal; patient; true; and "unafraid of toil."

and Slytherin, also because I have been told that I am: cunning; power-hungry; and had "great ambition."

I think that some of these qualities kind of cancel each other out, but oh well.

but I think it really depends on the way the site sets up the sorting. I mean, it's really the way a question has been written as to how a person answers it.

Reah, you've just hit upon a point that makes most polls well, pointless! Depending how a question is tilted or worded, will really affect the out come of the poll results. The person who drafts the questions for the poll can directly affect the outcome of the poll making the poll null and void. Remember this, the next time you hear poll results. The questions to a poll must be neutral in order for the poll to be valid. I don't trust any poll numbers until I can see the actual questions asked.

well, i agree with pensive that the poll should be nuetral in order for it to be valid. i took a poll test too, in the potter forum. there were situational questions, it actually placed me in gryffindor (i just took it once though) after i was sorted i log-out and ever since then i never could return again becuase i lost my password...

I answered without difficulty : Ravenclaw. Although since I'm from Beauxbatons Academy, they have another system of Houses, so I don't know which House I would belong to Rolling Eyes

I chose Ravenclaw because I'm smart in school and I'm always asking to learn more. I wouldn't be in Gryffindor because I'm not one of the bravest people alive and I wouldn't be in Hufflepuff because I'm not always real patient with things. I would definitely not be in Slytherin because I'm not power hungry like other people are. I think that the best house for me is Ravenclaw.
