This post is for people to pick holes in the books and point out mistakes that have been made.

Please add mistakes or refute them...

In the Philosophers Stone, Nearly-Headless Nick tells Harry that he hasn't eaten in nearly 400 years, but in CoS Nick is celebrating 500 years from the day he died. So did he gain a century in one school year ?!?

Yeah that’s what I think as well, looks like J.K made a mistake.

Yeah that's true. But movies have a time schedule. People don't want to sit in the theater for 10 hours.

I would be one of those people that would want it that way; as long as there would be an intermission or two or three....

Ugh for some reason i would spend my whole day watching the 10 hour movies. well i found something odd not a mistake how come when tom looks at the snake he doesnt die. I mean the basilik being medusesa pet snake( i call it that ). Plus in the first book when harry talks to the snake why doesnt it sound like a series of hissing noises so we can catch drift about what is going on. Plus how come when murtle discribes how she died the basilik comes out right away?? and how does it fit through the pipes? Shocked

but didnt he say that he preferred to take the half-life he is living now?

if you are brave, you wont be afraid to die. you may not be reckless, but you are ready to die for a cause, say, between betraying your friends and dying, betraying your faith and dying, dying for your loved ones, etc.

well, perhaps nick was not afraid to die, but once he did, he realized that he would prefer a half life than to be completely dead. maybe thats it. or yeah, maybe he has unfinished business. but once the unfinished business was finished, he would have to die in peace, never to be bothered again. what bit of unfinished business is that that it hasnt been finished in 500 years?

In the chapter where McGonagall takes Harry to Dumbledore's office (I don't remember the exact chapter- haven't read the book in forever), they spell professor with either two Fs or two Rs at the bottom of the page.

It does not sound like hissing because he does not know he can speak parseltonge. And Tom did not die because he is a memory and controls the basilisk.
