I think the Veil might be like that. They went to speak to the woman that could help them pass on to either heaven/hell and it took them months to get to her and get back to their home. If you don't know where you are going, you are stuck.

I would assume, that time would be longer behind the Veil, but that doesn't work well with the theory.

if there was a significant time difference then Sirius could end up in another dimension. But if he somehow managed to cross over the veil, Harry and the others would have aged.
Also, Bellatrix hit Sirius with a red spell. Red. STUPEFY.
It wasn't neccessarily Stupefy. It could've been Expelliarmus, thus hitting Sirius through the veil. I still don't believe that he's dead, though. And the voices behind the veil do have a signifigance. Read what Luna says. Luna is very knowledgable. She may believe in alot of extraordinary things; but Harry heard the voices too.
Anyway, he'd still have gone in to the veil. Nothing stops that from happening. So, how the hell would he get out? If it WAS Stupefy, that eliminates all chances he had of escaping the veil. He'd be petrified.
And also, J.K. Rowling has also confirmed that he is dead somewhere. o-o
SHE'S CONFUSING ME. Just because the two-way mirror is going to be used, doesn't mean Sirius will be the one he's contacting.

Not neccessarily. It says Sirius didn't have the mirror when he went through. Also; Mundungus was stealing some of Sirius' stuff. Therefore, Mundungus could've sold the two way mirror and Harry could end up contacting somebody else. _________________ Domo-kun.
As far as I can remembered JK said she was said when she wrote the part where Sirius fell through the veil. I also recall something I may have heard or read that JK said that he was dead. There was another theory that like Dumbledore's picture in his office there may be a picture of Sirius in Grimmauld Place.
Many people think harry will die at the end of the last book.. but i think that if siruis lives, harry will live. I used to think that harry would die because he really wouldnt have anything left with Dumbledore and Sirius gone.. *yeah hermione and ron would be there* but it still wouldnt be the same... and wouldnt make for a very good epilogue...

I have read in several places where they claim that JK said this and that. About Sirius I have both read that she said he's dead or that he will make some return or another.
Either JK just likes to tick me off by switching her story or she just doesnt want us to know the truth. But I have a huge feelign that half the places that advertise Deathly Hollow rumors they write to WHAT they believe or want to happen.
But it would be really really nice if Sirius came back!!!
