When Harry wanted to speak to Sirius after seeing Snape's memory, why didn't he just use the two-way mirror? Duh!

Yeah, when he got it he decided that he never wanted to use it. Apparently he was successful in forgetting about it, so he wouldn't be tempted.

I think it's supposed to be ironic...

He stowed it away without opening it and finding out what it was -- vowing never to use it, because he didn't want to be the one who put Sirius in danger.

he didn't know it was a two way mirror he just thought it would tell sirius snape was abusing teaching harry, so he though sirius would just come...

that's what i thought....

kind of like send sirius an alarm.

I think that JKR makes the characters more real then we expect, the fact that thye forget important things like that and stuff, yeah, thats realism...and also a part of irony plays in that too.

Harry stowed the package away without ever even looking at it so it would have been easy to forget you had something in your trunk if it was stowed away like that.

Me too. I agree with Daxxa too, I think JK's writing was really good because it made the reader forget about ti too, well it worked for me anyway!
