I thought this tournament was a little too easy. Even if Mad Eye didn't help Harry, I think that if Harry tried a little bit more he could have easily won. He learned a lot of spells that would have been great to fend off monsters. The only thing I thought was hard was trying to get past the dragon without dying.

the only thing that seems absurd is opening the egg underwater

Something about the Triwizard cup is important to VOldemort, besides that it was to bring him back. ROund about the time that he was at hogwart was a time when the Triwizard cup was being held as well. MIght it be that Most of the things that Harry is doing now , is like a rehashed version of al the things that Tom riddle did as a child at hogwarts.
Look at all the paralells between Harry and Tom.

Coincidence i think not.

The remake! Haha, Harry is a remake of Tom. Anyway, I didn't understand the whole egg-underwater thing either.

I can't remember how long they say in GoF since the last one was held, but if Voldemort did ever compete in it, he probably killed one of his other competitors unbeknown-st to the judges I'm sure.

they hadn't held the tournament for hundreds of years. I don't remember the exact number, but the last time was more than a century ago. voldy couldn't have done it...maybe dumbledore though, he's 150ish.

I don't think Voldemort would have killed people. He probably would have cheated though. It would look to suspicious if the two other people died, but Voldemort didn't.

i think the egg under water was simple. its just like a music player of the merpeoples song but they cant sing out of water so it screeched. under water it can sound because they live under water. i thought that was obv.

You are right. it was simple, but the hard part was just finding out what it was saying.

Cedric told Harry what to do with the egg. Cedric only knew because FakeMoody told him what to do. But how did Fleur and Krum know? Of course they could have cheated somehow... or maybe they recognized the language. Or someone did, like Karkaroff.
If DD can understand mermish, then taking the egg underwater isn't necassary, just an added bonus to make the translation easier. Maybe it's like with any foreign language, it's sounds like gibberish (or screeching) until you understand it. Just a thought.

I don't think Harry would have been able to complete all the tasks without help from FakeMoody. The egg, definitely not. He didn't try Cedric's hint untl the last minute and even then he wasn't able to figure out how to stay underwater for over an hour. And he didn't even learn the Summoning Charm until FakeMoody gave him the idea to use his broom.
The maze he might have been able to complete himself, but not before the others. Well I'm not saying that for sure, but ImperiodKrum did get Fleur out of the way and distracted Cedric for a bit with the Cruciatus Curse.

maybe cedric told krum & fluer. Krum (just a guess) maybe just saw all the stands by the lake and he changed into his swiming trunks and transfigured into a half shark at the last minute.

fluer i think cedric told er because they both used the air bubble thing

I think they probably found out because of their headmasters, they probably knew something like this would happen.

I agree, it was way to easy. I mean, if Barty Crouch Jr. hadn't rigged the last task, any of the 4 could have easily one. I think any 6th or 7th year would do fine in the last two tasks (again, without interference from Barty). The dragon was the only really hard task. (and surprisingly, everyone did fine on that one...)

Yeah it may have been a bit easy but c'mon... They're still kids!!!

They're not gonna make a competition with the sole purpose of trying to kill them all... in a fight for survival. They'd of course have some safety nets here and there and tone down the tasks.

I mean who'd want to enter if they knew there was like a 70% chance they wouldn't make it anyway.
