snogging has to be kissing cause Harry and Ron caught Dean and Ginny snogging in the hallway and if it was anymore then kissing it would be repulsive to see them do it(and even worse in a hallway

both, it's British slang and Australian. Either way, it's not slang in the US.

of course snogging is kissing. i had never heard that word before i read the hp books and it was pretty easy to figure out.

actually this is what the original question was:
A little question from somebody abroad... This snogging kids keep doing at hogsworth... does it (in everyday language) include kissing only or something more?
so they definately knew it was kissing, they were just wondering if there was anything else to it

It's definitely kissing but I'm not sure students would really like to see Ron and Lavender snogging in the Gryffindor Common Room, if you think it's more than just kissing. I was under the impression that Ginny's "present" for Harry was more than just a kiss.
