No, I haven't been reading too many quizilla quizzes, BUT: I think Draco actually has a good heart, BUT, he lives with a death eater for a father, a mother who turns her nose up at everything, and he has to go through two choices: Become a death eater, or get killed(at least, I think thats the most likely of the choices he was given, lol). If he had been in Harry's place, I doubt he would have turned out like the Draco Malfoy we know him as. _________________

Malfoy has really received rotten treatment from the home front. In COS we see Lucius bullying him before Lucius got into the fight with Arthur. He really didn't have good examples did he? _________________ You're just jealous cause the voices only talk to me!
I wouldn't be surprised if Lucius beats Malfoy like.. daily, at home. In most Draco Malfoy fanfics, Lucius beats him up somewhere in the story. _________________

I don't know. Draco has zero redeeming qualities. Its hard to even feel sorry for him because everything that happens to him is his own fault. I think there are two routes for him: Death or Azkaban.
Not Snape. Ive come to believe Snape is good and not in Voldermort's side. He was just following DD orders and he will betray Voldie in the end:) He cant die:(
Long time no see everyone I've been really busy lately but back to the thread. Yes snape will definitly turn and even if draco doesn't like it I think it will come down to a duel between Lucius and Draco instead of Draco turning directly to Voldemort.
I think he'll turn back to being good. He's not evil at heart; he proved that in HBP when he was unable to kill Dumbledore. _________________ Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
In pursuit of the "mega happy ending where everyone lives happily ever after" I hope Draco fights along side harry and falls in love with Luna. That would be funny as hell.
Ok the luna thing was a joke, but he should still fight alonside them against the death eaters.
I don't want Draco to die, and I hope that he will be able to cease working for Voldemort and go into hiding somewhere safe. However, I think it may be likely that he will be forced into continuing to serve Voldemort or die. I hope this is not the case, but it would be difficult for him to successfully go into hiding.
Draco is a little boy playing a big boy's game...if he can make it out of this alive, I'll be very surprised. Like Sirius said, "...the world isn't split into good people and Death Eaters." (OotP ch. 14) Draco may not want to play the big boys' game anymore, now that he knows he can be commanded to kill and that real people die in this game, but I think it is too late for him to fully redeem himself.
No one is going to vouch for him, unless every fan's dream comes true and Dumbledore is still alive. Draco's done entirely too good a job being a little pain in the butt to everybody for anyone but Dumbledore to actually believe he's turned a new leaf. At any rate, Harry and Ron will never trust him--though Hermione might (and no, I'm not suggesting she will fall in love with him as so many Draco/Hermione shippers might like).
Voldemort will be angry that Draco didn't complete the task. Yes, the job got done, but DRACO didn't do it, and Draco doing it was key. He was being used as a tool of the Dark Lord as a means of getting back at Lucius for his colossal failure in the Ministry. And I DO believe Voldemort is just petty enough to jump on Draco like a cat on a canary because of a mere technicality. Voldemort believes himself to be so important that everyone should do exactly as he says when he says to do it, and if Draco didn't do his job, he's in for it.
So wherever Snape and Draco disappeared to after the scene on the Astronomy Tower, we can be reasonably assured that both of them are hiding from Voldemort because they're both in trouble. Neither of them is going to come out of this unscathed, whether they're snatched by Voldemort or the Ministry. It seems the only place either of them has to go is to the Order...but who will be ready to listen? _________________ "Wow, I wonder what it'd be like to have a difficult life," said Harry sarcastically.

That's fanfic. There's no evidence of it in canon. Lucius doesn't strike me as a physically abusive father, just a rather cold and distant one. And Draco doesn't behave like a child who has been abused in that way. Also, although the Malfoy family are pretty nasty pieces of work (particuarly Lucius), they do care about each other- HBP should be evidence enough of that, although there are clues in earlier books.
I agree. I think we'd have seen more evidence of violence in him if he were an abusive father. Plus, that seems almost too cliche... the antagonistic bully who isn't the main bad character, and is the way he is because he's abused... Draco is also constantly bragging about his father during the first five books, and I don't think he'd do so if his father beat him. _________________ Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
Yeah, Lucius really doesn't seem like the abusive type. He may be an evil arrogant jerk, but it's only to his enemies and those he considers beneath him.
As for Draco, I think he deserves redemption. I have faith in Dumbledore's faith in him. Snape on the other hand, is another story. _________________ I was born intellligent, but education ruined me. Everyone is entitled to my opinion. My imaginary friend thinks you have mental problems.
Here's what I think: a lot of characters in Harry Potter stand for, emulate, give an example of, etc. a profound topic in each of our lives. Harry is the good and light of the world, Hermione-knowledge, Dumbledore-wisdom (yes, they are two different things), Lily-love, and so on and so forth. Draco is the same sort of thing: redemption. He is a symbol and a message that there are second chances, I think. Therefore, he has to be redeemed and come over from "the dark side." _________________ Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
What I love about JKR's books are her characters. Particuarly the villians. She puts a lot of depth into them and they're a lot of fun to think about. Draco's no exception, and although he's a bit of a bully and is prejudiced and just generally often a nasty piece of work, in the end he isn't inherently evil. He's just got a lot of issues and problems. I hope he will be redeemed. But then, if he isn't and ends up a fully-fledged DE, then that might make us feel some understanding/sympathy for the other adult DEs, as we can see now what their descent into who they are now might have been like. But personally I hope for the redemption one, and maybe another character, or more than one, may be redeemed with him- there are many possibilities, such as either of his parents or Snape etc.
Well, I don't think anyone else would be redeemed. Who is there? Snape, but if he's on the Dark Side now, he'll never be redeemed, and if he's indeed on the good side, then there's no need for redemption. Pettigrew? No, he's a coward and bad and as good as killed Lily and James. No, Draco is the only one, I think. But other than that, I agree. _________________ Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
I hope that Draco has a one-on-one meeting with LV. Lord Voldemort does the crucio a couple times on him and then his mother begs for mercy not to kill him. Voldemort gives her the crucio once or twice and then keeps them both alive.
Then I hope he uses Draco to follow Harry. I really would like to see a hard-core battle between the two of them.
Spoiler:
There was the part in the HBP in the bathroom, but that wasn't enough
Then I hope Malfoy gets away and either Harry, Ron, Hermione, or Voldemort kills him.
-blinks and gapes- Wow, violent... Lol. I don't want that to happen to Draco though. I still think he just needs to sort himself out. _________________ I was born intellligent, but education ruined me. Everyone is entitled to my opinion. My imaginary friend thinks you have mental problems.
No, he doesn't. He's a jerk, yes, a bully, yes, pompous and arrogant, yes, but he's still only a hot-headed sixteen-year-old. He didn't really know what he was getting into until it was too late to pull out. He was blind, and he's paid the price for it, but he doesn't deserve to die. Dumbledore didn't think he deserved to die, and "Dumbledore's shrewd guesses usually turn out to be pretty accurate." _________________ Fairytales are more than true; not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
