It is the prisioner - because the dog is Sirius.

So it's just hidden (supposidly all the books have something hidden in their covers --American Versions)

It is, Sirius is Animagus and he was the dog... ((SNUFFLES!)) So yeah. I never noticed the dog to be honest lol.

Yes, according to Scholastic they wanted the artwork to hide important clues to the stories on the covers.

Now whether or not that actually happened, reamains to be seen, I can't actually find any of them myself
