Oh No, I didnt know that. *cries tears of sadness for old DD*

I thought if anyone could come back from "the dead" it would be DD, Ill really miss him in the next book.
At least when DD was around we knew he was always nearby to help Harry.

As for Snape I hope he is good really or at least more good than bad.

Oh man Dumbledore is gone for good. Well if Dumbledore is really dead then Snape really killed him. That means Snape is really evil.

Unless Dumbledore asked Snape to kill him. Remember Dumbledore in the first book says "To the organised mind death is but the next level" or something like that.

Yeah, I believe Snape and Dumbledore had a plan of some sort.....It's very Dumbledore like to risk his own life in order to keep the safety of the wizarding world.

Yeah, maybe. Before Snape killed him, Dumbledore said, 'please Severus'. Maybe he was asking snape to 'please' kill him.

if you look back at all the times that avada kadavera was used, the persom killed just falls to the ground. like cedric. dd ,on the other hand, is blasted back off the tower. never in any case of a v being used that we have seen has the person been blasted back. the spell that does produce this result is expelliarmus. like when snape did it to lockhart. what i think is that snape said A V, but did a nonverbal expelliarmus.

i got this from www.dumbledoreisnotdead.com

its a good theory whether or not jkr supports it, because why would she tell us he isnt dead and spoil the surprise!??!?

Back to the snape being evil thing this might have been brought up but thats a lot of reading and it's 4 Am atm so here a little bit of a thinker on the last part of page 405 and the first 2 sentences of 406 in HBP it talks about Snape and DD argueing and snape saying DD takes to much for granted.

This is one of the major factors in making me believe Snape is not evil but was actually asked to do something he would never normally do which would be to kill DD if the time came. >.< I really believe snape is good but thought I'd throw that out there

I believe Snape is on Harry's side. I prefer to use 'on Harry or voldemort's side' than good or evil, but as they are a lot shorter to type, 'good' in this post means on Harry's side and 'evil' means.. well, no prizes for guessing.

However, what I don't believe is that Snape won Dumbledore's trust on something so simple as he regretted James and Lily losing their lives. That is not likely to be the reason he switched sides. He probably did regret it and feel very bad about it, but it isn't the main reason. I think he was already good before Trelawney made her first prophecy.

The theory behind this is not originally mine, nor would I be intelligent enough to think of it by myself. However, I read a theory on it, thought about it and decided it made sense more than any of the other theories I've read.

The link to said theory is here:

http://www.redhen-publications.com/Loyaulte.html

You by no means have to read it (it's long!), but it's only fair to give credit where credit's due. Therefore I've posted the link (hope it works, or at least shows up!)

I really don't know about the evil vs good debate about snape, I never liked him, but I think it would be too easy to assume that he is evil, and DD has been wrong about him all this time.
Now my only evidence/idea about why Snape killed DD is his"Please" I know that like everyone else DD would never sink low enough to beg for his life from anyone, let alone someone he thought had just betrayed him. Snape had loads of opportunites to kill DD as well.
So, DD says "please" because him and Snape are both very good at Legimency and Occulmency, so maybe they are kind of "telepathically" commuicating in some way. Snape was cornered with the Malfoys, and DD couldn't let him show his true loyalty. Just a thought!

I very much agree, I don't think DD would ever beg for his life especially as he said in book 1 that to the organised mind death is just the next great adventure and Snape could have killed him many times before even without the unbreakable vow.

edit Nov 5: I have thought a bit more about this after rereading HBP and I still think Snape isn't evil. It wouldn't make sense to put so much energy into building up a character as mysterious and then simply have him turnout evil, also it would make look DD just like a big old fool because he believed in Snape and trusted him. The only way I can see an evil Snape making sense is to show that Harry was right all along and knew more than one of the greatest wizards of all times. That would make sense in that he is the hero of the whole series but DD would still appear very stupid and somehow it wouldn't make Harry very likeable...
