After finishing this book in re-reading series I noticed that this gives away one clue to figuring out many ages, and dates.

When the Trio go to Nick's Deathday Party they mention the date of Nick's life on the cake. He died Oct. 31st 1492. Being his 500th Deathday this means that the events in Chamber of Secrets are in 1992. From that we know:

-Harry was born in 1980
-Voldemort was born in 1926

Voldemort will be 71 in book seven.

i have posted a lord voldemort timeline. he was born 1925, i believe, unless my computations are wrong.

I think Voldie was born 31 December, 1925. Here’s my computation:

31 December, 1925: Tom Riddle was born

31 December, 1936: Tom Riddle turns 11

September, 1937 – Tom Riddle enters Hogwarts (I think that you
cannot enter Hogwarts if you are ten, even if you will be turning 11 that same year.)

1938-39, 2nd yr; 1939-40, 3rd yr; 1940-1941, 4th yr; 1942-43, 5th yr;

June 1943 (depending on whether it was opened Sept-Dec, or Jan-June): Tom Riddle was in his fifth year; he opened the COS

June 1945: Tom Riddle graduated from Hogwarts

- I got that the COS was opened around that time since it was said so in COS that the chamber was opened 50 years ago. If COS was set in 1992, then we can conclude the chamber was opened 1942-1943. I am inclined to believe it is 1943 because the diary of Riddle opened in June 13. Riddle was in his 5th yr in June 13 1943, but in his 4th yr June 1942. When Malfoy said the chamber was opened 50 years ago, perhaps he meant 50 “school years” ago.
- The rest are computations derived from that bit of information.

It's strange how far back JKR chose to place the book... which also makes it seem strange that elements of the book were placed in the '20's, that seems like ancient to me.

So that must mean that Hagrid is in his 60's, then, since he was a few years younger than Tom at Hogwarts. Damn! Hagrid's old.

Voldy should've just given up on world domination and got a pension and a bus pass. You've gotta admit though, he looked good for his age lol.
