In harry potter and the order of the phoenix, harry seems to say the word crucio casting a spell at the death eater who killed sirius black I think her name was bellatrix? I dont know Im not that familiar with the series. But I do know thats a torture curse and thats not what happened when he said it. Check it out for yourself:

He says it in the book, too... But it doesn't work because you have to mean it. And, yes, it was directed at Bellatrix, a Death Eater.

^Well it does work but it only jolts Bellatrix rather than tortures her. That's why Bellatrix tells Harry that righteous anger is not enough to cause continuous pain to people.

doesn't voldemort tell him in the movie "you have to mean it harry" or something like that? harry just doesn't have it in him to torture properly.

Sorry to dig this up a couple days, but it doesnt elaborate that he even said crucio. He says it, it just blows her back, and then you hear voldamort whispering to him "You know the spell...she deserves it..." As if trying to convince him to use Avada Kedavra, unless he was trying to convince him to use crucio again and mean it, but Im not sure

...he said it...what more elaboration do you need? not sure what you're trying to say. and yes, he meant crucio, not avada kedavra.

He does end up properly using Unforgivable Curses in the 7th book though.

i must admit i was quite offended by harrys use of this spell seeing him use an unforgivable cures felt like an insult or betrayal because of how we have seen innocent harry potter grow up but i as i read on and finished the sixth book then teh seventh i wish he had used aveda kedavra instead... i have put a whole big thing about this in one topic in the deathly hallows book section

I didn't notice he used the curse until I read your post. I'm kind of surprised but at the same time I can't say I blame Harry. If I saw someone kill my loved ones it wouldn't take much for me to want to hurt them.
