The books says something like: And Harry knew that he was gone. That's when he stops singing...

Fawkes is immortal. Every time he dies, he is reborn from the ashes. That is just how phoenixes are. He probably went to live with Aberforth. That's my theory, anyway.

No; It says in Magical Creatures and where to find them, that a Phoenix can become very old... not that he's immortal.

I've heard from stories (mythological) about phoenixes that when their master dies they are gone until they contain their thoughts, and then search for a new leader. Bet a thousand pounds that it will be...*gasp* Harry!!!

JKR said that the happiest people do not become ghosts. We will also learn more about ghost in book 7. So I don't think Dumbledore will be a ghost. A wizard also decides before he dies if he wants to become an ghost.

I think that snape killed dumbledore because he was asked to. The plead from dumbledore was a plead to go through with it. Dumbledore knew that snape would be the only one who could help harry if he died. If snape didn't go though with it, then it would blow his cover. Dumbledore was a very wise wizard and he didn't want everything he had worked for inorder to keep harry safe, to come unravelled just to save his own life.... how selfish would that be?

Fawkes might make a surprise appearance in DH helping Harry out. Then he'll just stick around.

I think it makes the most since because of JK's writing style, she does everything for a reason and it all comes back to surprise the reader. I love the way everything comes together as she writes the books. I don't think we will be let down by the last book. I can't wait for it.
