I think she wanted to kiss him way before that but she weas too nervous. Same with him.
I think when he said they should go save the Elves that was the final thing that made Hermione realize he was the one. I thought it was a really sweet part, when he picked her up! It was a heart grabbing moment!

yeah I thought the kiss was perfect. It came after he showed a great sign of maturity, he was no longer just worrying about himself, or his family and friends, but nameless house elves. it also shows that he finally gets SPEW and how elves should be treated well (no doubt helped along by dobby's death and kreacher's change of heart). hell I wanted to kiss Ron then, and I've never felt attracted to him before.

I think she was worried that they both not make it out alive so she wanted to show him that she loved him before one of them might have died.

well, I'm not surprised she waited until the end. Obviously JKR hates me. I was beginning to think it would never happen. But eally, it was because Hermione wanted to wait until he was mature enough. And he made a very selfless comment that wasn't rehearsed or played out beforehand in his head. In was a genuine caring comment. And you knew she didn't want to wait anymore.

Oh, it's not just JKR, it's the filmmakers, too. I mean, they haven't come right out and said it, but I can just tell. The way they leave things out and leave me guessing. It's just a vibe I get from them.
Well, ok, I don't actually think they hate me... but if your favorite scenes get cut from the HBP movie, its because they hate me.

I think they had both been to nervous for a while, but at that moment they realized how big of deal this fight was and Ron's sudden maturity...I don't know I thouht the kiss was really perfectly placed though, even if we did have to wait a while.

It was pretty fitting and cute, I thought.
Ron always seemed to think she was nuts based on her SPEW obsession...but then, he said that they should get the elves out because they could not rightfully ask them to give up their lives for wizards...so I think him finally showing that he cared for the elves and that they weren't just fodder inspired her...

Omg! me too. i was so sure it was going to be then as well.
especially since ron just had that big moment with harry. But still it was just as cute when hermione went all agro on him. it just shows how much hermione cares for him.
