You need an image hoster. The one most people use for forum posting is www.photobucket.com.
-Make an account there
-Upload pictures from your computer onto your account
-Below the picture it gives you 3 different codes, URL, TAG, and IMG. When posting on forums you want to use the IMG tag, so all you have to do is copy that code into your post
Posting Avatars
An avatar is the little picture below your name on the left hand side of your post. You can find any image you want for those, as long as you keep them at a decent size. Try typing in Harry Potter Avatars into Yahoo or something, Mugglenet.com has them too I believe.
To Put it in Your Profile:
-Click profile at the top of the forums
-Scroll down to Avatar Control Panel
-Copy the URL code from photobucket into the space provided
Posting Signatures
A signature is your own personal signature that goes below your post. People usually make these using Photoshop, but you may find some on the internet. Anything could be your signature. I myself can make sigs, so if you want one let me know.
Putting a Sig in your Profile:
-Click profile at the top of the forums
-Scroll down to signature
-Copy the IMG code from your photobucket into the space provided
Posting a Picture
If you would like to post a picture to your post and add it on the forums all you have to do is upload the image you want to post to photobucket, copy the IMG code and paste it in your post and it should show up.
Using the Tools in Posting
When posting you will see tools at the top of your post while your typing
B, i, u, Quote, Code, List, List=, Img, URL, Spoiler.
If you want to use these tools, all you have to do is select the text you want change and click that tool.
Example:
Harry Potter Rocks!....I want to make that bold so I would select the words "Harry Potter Rocks!" and click on the B tool. You will see little b's around it, and thats the code for the post.
Or if you want to put someones quote in a post, there is little button above each post, called quote. If you just click that it will take you to the place you make posts and it will already be there for you.
If you ever want to edit your post, there is also a button called edit above each of your posts, just click on that, and edit away.
Hope this helps anyone with questions! If you have trouble make a post or PM me. _________________
I'm sick of it! I found a really great avatar, tried it, it didn't work. So I tried some others, and they keep coming up with that thing! I dunno why it's not working!

I'm assuming that the image is a Bitmap (.bmp). Right click on one of the images and select Properties. Under the General tab, it should list the "Type of file." If this isn't JPG, GIF, or PNG, the avatar will not be accepted. Bitmaps can be converted to JPG quite easily. I think you can do it in Microsoft Paint by opening the file and selecting Save As and change the file type to JPG or extention to .jpg. If this isn't clear (which it may not be), please post back. _________________
Ok, i figured out alot that you meant and stuff, but I went on photobucket and alot they had was jpg or whatever, but nothing was under or equal to 80x80. Thank you for explaining everything again before...I appreciate it. _________________ You can't deny it...Severus is Sexy.
Perhaps this is an odd request, and please don't flame me for it, but can there be some restrictions as to the size of images used in sigs, some of them are huge and detract from the messages being posted. Maybe its just me, and if so, I'll be quiet. _________________

We actually do have a sig size limit rule here listed in the rules. Us mods try to tell people to re-size their sigs, some choose not too though :/ _________________

Isn't it funny, you hear a phone ring, and it could be anybody, but a ringing phone has to be answered, doesn't it.
For avatars, you do not need to upload it to the Photobucket account. Instead, choose the image from it's location on your computer by clicking on the Browse button. The image will then be sent to our website so it can be displayed. If you still have problems, please let us know. _________________

Here is my reply to the post you quoted. If this doesn't help, please post the file type, the file size (KB), and image dimensions.
