It seems odd that most of Proffessor Slughorn's favorite students are so successful. I think it's because Slughorn would give each of them a little bit of Felix Ficius when they graduated. Makes sense, doesn't it?

Interesting, but I just think that he is good at picking youngsters with talent. And also, it may not be 'most'- we don't know how much of the time he is right, and he's hardly going to tell us about the times he is wrong, is he?

True, but Dumbledor said that Slughorn had a tandancy to hand-pick students that tended to be sucsessful. Dumbledor would be a lot more honest about this than Slughorn himself.

No, I don't think he uses Felix Felicis. That's illegal in some cases, like say job interviews, and they might be able to detect it, like how we detect performance-enhanceing drugs. He's just good at identifying talented people. He gets them good jobs through other contacts, so they can do favors for him.

well... some people are good at knowing when the stock is about to change and stuff like that... he might be able to pick the good students out...
