HOL - Virtual Hogwarts
HOL - Virtual Hogwarts is a community and online school, based on the ideas of Joanne K. Rowling's Harry Potter series. Founded in June 2001, more than 3000 students from 70+ nations are registered in HOL, adult teachers from 4 continents are offering more than 40 classes, related to literature and writing, mythology and fantasy and of course all the subjects from the Harry Potter books, from Potions to Herbology, Muggle Studies to Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Your aim is to collect points for yourself and for your house and the best house gets the House Cup at the end of the term. But honestly the real aim is to have fun, to make new friends, to attend entertaining classes and to rave about your house Quidditch team. The main purpose of HOL is: to bring people of all ages, cultures, nations, religions together in one big community - to tear down any real or artificial walls that may have been built up by wealth, politics etc. - It's the individual that counts -that's the spirit of JK Rowlings books (quotes):

- "Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open."
- "It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."
HOL is a family-oriented community and online school, certified by the Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA), featuring entertainment and educational experiences suitable for all ages. It has role-playing elements, but it is NOT a role-playing game. Since this is a family-oriented website, please refrain from using any foul or otherwise "adult" language. By joining HOL, you also agree, that you will not use this discussion board to post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise violative of any law.

STUDENT REGISTRATION
Register your HOL-NamePlease read the instructions on valid HOL Names carefully.
If you sign up with an invalid name, your student file will be deleted by the admins, even after the Sorting, and you will have to re-signup with a valid name.
Entry Exam
Your name has to be registered (STEP 1) first, or your exam will not count. You have to pass the Entry Exam with 90%. The Entry Exam has been added to make sure that you know what HOL is about before you are joining. All the answers can be found on the HOL pages, especially in the HOL Handbook. You can get any help you want for the Exam questions, and retake it as many times as you need to.
A submitted Entry Exam will be graded instantly, and if you passed you can put on the Sorting Hat right away.
Sorting Hat
Please spell your registered HOL Name correctly, or your Sorting will not work! You must have passed the Entry Exam. You have just one try, only the first sorting counts! Please take your time to answer the Sorting Hat's questions as correctly as you can, so you don't get sorted into the wrong house.
Get your Student-ID
You will get your permanent HOL-ID when you have completed the Sorting. It will start with the first two letters of your name, followed by a number. Please do not forget this ID, as you will need it throughout HOL
Create your Personal HOL Password
You need a password for all your personal things in HOL, such as your Student File, House Points, Awards, Classes, access to restricted areas, joining clubs, contests or posting submissions. For your own safety, please create a unique personal password that you do not use anywhere else.
Register for the HOL Forum
If you are not registered for the HOL Forum yet, please do so now. Use your full HOL-Name to register.
Register for your Common Room
Every House in HOL has its own Common Room. Please register for your Common Room now.
Remember, these steps are mandatory to register at HOL.

As we are approaching our SEVENTH year of HOL -- yes, that's a long time - it's time for some improvements. The new layout is now live on the main page
HOL is getting DEPARTMENTS -- the library for a start, later art, music and games. Every HOL Member, student or professor can be involved three-way in all department projects: 1. participate, post submissions, enter contests etc. -- 2. review other submissions, post comments on other submissions and rate them -- 3. decide on the winner and house points rewards: post your rating, flag submissions as invalid or off-topic, all ratings go into the final ranking and points. Fun times ahead! |
